I'm cobbling together a program which should download the posts into a Word table. I can easily strip out the posts that aren't tagged with my name But perhaps I'll keep them too? I'm really enjoying going back and looking at people's comments; it reminds me of people I don't see anymore. I found two people who used to be really into dreaming who never come around anymore last night and e-mailed them about the new forum. Another hotel. Why am I always in hotels? This in not my home. Bu, I dream about being in hotels all of the time too; in addition to strange apartments and houses.

I can see myself writing a perl script that would connect to my thread, recurse all the pages, and grab my writings. (probably take me longer than just doing it manually, but at least I would have fun) oh man... you both just read my mind. i've been placing a phrase at the end of my journal entries specifically for this reason which when searching for posts by me (with only this phrase) will only bring up my journal entries for "archival storage" or what have you.... an awk / sed / grep linux script will definitely be my next step to make this relatively painless (and somehow.. for us crazy ppl) fun.

I rattle the handle, the door is locked, and a woman screams, terrified, from inside the room behind it.
Are you sure you didn't open the door and she caught a glimpse of your huge erection?

Are you sure you didn't open the door and she caught a glimpse of your huge erection? Haha. Yes, could be. I must admit I did wonder about the symbolism of the doorknob. oh man... you both just read my mind. i've been placing a phrase at the end of my journal entries specifically for this reason which when searching for posts by me (with only this phrase) will only bring up my journal entries for "archival storage" or what have you.... an awk / sed / grep linux script will definitely be my next step to make this relatively painless (and somehow.. for us crazy ppl) fun. My script would be in VBA - I don't know Perl. I did this a while back but can't find it :( But as I recall it was fairly simple, only about 30 lines of code, and relied on knowing the thread id, start page and end page. Is there somewhere on this forum us geeks can discuss this? My DJ probably isn't the best. I'm really enjoying going back and looking at people's comments; it reminds me of people I don't see anymore. To me, something about a place where I have my needs met but is only temporary as are the people I encounter there.

In trouble at school
I'm picking my young son up from school. As I meet him at the door, his teacher says she'd like a word with me and could I bring him too. A little girl was also there with her mother and I guesses that he'd struck out at her or something (he has anger issues IRL). We go in and all 5 of us are waiting in the corridor outside the classroom. Not sure why we're not going in. In the silence I start to feel sad and ashamed. My eyes fill with water and I am aware that I'm about to cry. I want the other adults to know I'm crying.
I think this is a simple re-experience of how I felt when I was in trouble as a child. I'd feel that if I cried then the big people would treat me more sympathetically. The two issues are fresh in my mind anyway - the crying because I'd just written something for my course on crying, that it is there to get caregiver attention. Also my son had been in trouble for attacking a child just a couple of days ago. Identifying with his situation, I wanted to cry my way out of it. I wanted to show my shame.

Oh, I'd like to keep all comments to my DV DJ as well! They spice up the journals! Glad to see you're here, Bu! In trouble at school In the silence I start to feel sad and ashamed. My eyes fill with water and I am aware that I'm about to cry. I want the other adults to know I'm crying. Owww, you started crying in your dream and you wanted the others to know? Crying your way out of it, sounds like something I did as a child too

Is there somewhere on this forum us geeks can discuss this? My DJ probably isn't the best. I'll look for the best place; actually pj is probably the one to ask. I'll ask him, and Pm you or ask him to. Another hotel. Why am I always in hotels? This in not my home. Bu, I dream about being in hotels all of the time too; in addition to strange apartments and houses. What do you think it's about? To me, something about a place where I have my needs met but is only temporary as are the people I encounter there. I don't know...I'm much more at my Dad's house, or strange or temporary dwellings, than in my own house. I hardly ever dream about the house I live in now, maybe never. Sometimes I wake up and forget what house I am living in now for a little bit. Maybe my SC or dream-mind can't really remember where I live. The important things like Tom and my pets come with me sometimes tho. That's all I can figure out. In trouble at school In the silence I start to feel sad and ashamed. My eyes fill with water and I am aware that I'm about to cry. I want the other adults to know I'm crying. It sounds like you are really identifying with your son, and putting yourself in his place. You are probably torn in your emotions about this; I'm sure you want him to "act right"; but you also feel bad for him that he is getting into trouble. It's hard to be a parent, I imagine; there are probably so many issues with that that your SC is working on.

We can have geek discussions in The Den. There isn't a Computers and Tech Talk forum per se. I'd just written something for my course on crying, that it is there to get caregiver attention.
I can fully agree with this. I can't fully remember how hold I was (6-7 maybe) when I made this realization. I was sitting on the floor playing in my bedroom. My sister came into the room and threw a ball at me. When the ball struck me, I began to cry. At the same time, I realized that even though the ball hurt I was only crying to try and get my sister in trouble. Pain wasn't an issue for me. I realized I could manage that. I thought about how childish the crying was and vowed that I wouldn't cry again - and I haven't (not from pain anyways).

Thanks, raklet. OK, The Den it is. Right which way is it... I can fully agree with this. I can't fully remember how hold I was (6-7 maybe) when I made this realization. I was sitting on the floor playing in my bedroom. My sister came into the room and threw a ball at me. When the ball struck me, I began to cry. Sounds like a major turning point for you. Now I think of it, I probably employ adult versions of that same strategy. Kind of dropping people in it. More psychoanalytically, I think there's a crying child in all of us.
Yes I often dream I'm in my parents' house too. And when I wake in the mornings I wonder what bed I'm in. That didn't come out as planned . I mean, like you I maybe think I'm in my last house or the one before it and when I look at where I think the window is, it isn't!
It's a balance between doing what's right for the child and keeping yourself sane at the same time. I really feel for parents who have terrors as children. Yet they're under so much pressure to control their children and it really isn't easy. Sometimes I'm not surprised some parents descend to brutality. Certainly there is too little help for them. In Britain anyway.

A crying child in all of us...I think you're right. I remember doing the same thing Raklet mentioned as a kid..crying certainly can have motivations and goals..getting someone in trouble, getting out of trouble and such..then again, very genuine reasons as well.
That really did sound like a moving dream..and a real connection you've made between that and RL.

indeed there is a connection I think between dreams and reality, its not literal (atleast I hope not otherwise I have gone insane judging by that last dream I had) but is more mysterious if you get me Oh and yes please for the geek discussion he he

Couple counselling and monastic chant
Not sure what led up to this but it certainly didn't start as couple counselling. Anyway there T am with this couple in a room I don't recognise. It has a large picture window and a wooden table. On the table is an information pack from an estate agent showing the particulars of a new building. I show the documents to the couple and sat that it's the new counselling centre. I can see it on a hill out of the window too.
I am aware now that there is monastic music playing in the background. And in fact quite loud. I wonder how this has affected our counselling.
Election results coming in
It's the General Election and I've just remembered that the first results are in. I look at the TV which is a fancy screen like you see in new offices and I'm expecting the Labour vote to have collapsed. In fact they've lost 2 or 3 seats only which isn't too bad. I look at the Conservative score and see they've picked up a seat or 2. The LibDems have picked up a seat too and I strain my eyes to see which one it is - it says Folkestone.
Counselling certainly isn't this upmarket. But it appears like I'm seeing it as quite valuable and professional in the dream. The couple may represent the thinking I'm doing about my own relationship. Or more accurately, my internalised constructs of a couple. Not sure about the monastic music. Suggests something spiritual.
The second dream feels like damage limitation. Like I know it will be bad but am happy to tolerate a small loss. My self esteem seems to be at stake in this election somehow. I really don't want the Conservatives to get any more seats!
