You have probably experienced waking up in the morning, remembering only a few fragments of the dreams you had that night. By asking yourself questions relating to the fragments that you are able to remember and possible dream content, you might be able to remember more of your dreams from that night. I have put together a list of general questions that you can use to help you remember your dreams better. You are of course free to add your own questions, and use the ones that are relevant to whatever you already remember.
Were any colors or sound prominent?
What were my emotions?
Was I alone?
If someone was with me, then who? Were they familiar to me, or strangers?
Was I indoors or outdoors?
If I was outdoors, what season was it, and what was the weather like?
Was I in a town or a city, in a rural area, or out in nature?
If I was indoors, was I inside a home or in a public building?
What kind of room was I in?
What time of day was it?
Was the dream about everyday life, or was the setting unusual?
Was it a recurring dream?
Was I lucid?
If you are keeping a dream journal already (you should!), you can set up reminder questions related to your dream signs. Those might help you if you are not able to remember anything when you get up in the morning.
Go through these questions as soon as you are able to when you find yourself only able to remember a little, preferably before you are even out of bed.

Great post Luminous ...
It helps me to ask questions relating to things that I often dream about like:
Was I in that familiar neighborhood or in a big city?
Was I talking to someone?
And then I try to let go and let the memory come without forcing it. I might think about the question but not the answer until it comes to me.

Other ones that add depth and sometimes revelation for me to go with emotions:
What caused these feelings?
Did I read anything? What did it say? (Gist or literal)
-
I like the 'feel' tact too. I think, for me at least that cuts straight to the meaning of the dream. For instance I may not remember what a DCs shirt looked like, but If I felt that the shirt was important and was the DC favorite shirt, I feel that was the important clue.

I'm running these on one of my weird fragmentary dreams from this morning - one I didn't think I had much of any recall of before starting to write it up. Let's see if anything comes of it.
(I'm doing it in my workbook.)

This isn't something I tend to do - although I do often ponder how I'm feeling. Sometimes it can be quite a while after the dream that a particular emotion really hits me - particularly if it's sadness, closeness, longing or grief. Stuff like anger and panic tends to be there from waking.
I''ll give it a try tomorrow.
