We have, so far, a Teacher's Guild, Technical Guild and Aegis Guild.
The Aegis guild will be the odd one out because it deals with sensitive security matters related to the server and forum software. It is the Administration team, doing what the Admin team has always been intended to do here. . . which isn't necessarily project or even community leadership. This one guild is not open to volunteers, though we expect to come up with a formalized way of replacing Aegis team members when necessary.
Other guilds discussed:
Organizers guild - Would replace admin team
Welcomers guild - Possible dream guide function
Ambassadors guild - Current ambassadors
Writers guild - For them that can write good.
As to Ambassadors Guild, I'm changing the group title, moving The United Nations under the Guild forum and changing its name to Ambassadors Guild. I think the translations and international promotions should still be under the auspices of the Ambassadors. As a guild now, however, admission should be open to anybody who wishes to be part of it - though we probably don't need 300 U.S. ambassadors!
-
Do we need a Challenges Guild? wolvendeer and Luminous are currently handling the challenges. . .
I will create the guild halls as we begin discussion of what each will do - and as we know that somebody is willing and able to take responsibility.

As I wrote somewhere, instead of a Writers Guild, we could have an Artists Guild (or Creative Guild) that would encompass writers, multimedia guys, graphic artists and musicians/composers.

I don't think that's necessary. The Teacher's Guild could have that responsibility as well.

Ok - Creator's Guild sounds pretty well encompassing. I'm on it.
Agreed about the Challenges Guild.
Both (and everything else) is open to more discussion!!!! Just because an idea has been acted on doesn't mean it is the final word.

I wonder if we could combine aspects of challenges and welcomers into an all encompasing guild whose mission is to strengthen the community. I see this group as responsible for welcoming new members and thinking up fun things to do like challenges, games, and such. Community Guild, or some other name.
I'd also like for everyone to consider a Research Guild of some kind. We've got a lot of people here developing new techniques and investigating suppliments.
-
That makes sense - seems like a more accurate division than combining it with all general "arts" type aspects of running the site.
So we'd have the Creator's Guild and then a Community Guild.

I agree on both. But we need a better name for the first one.

Regarding a Research Guild. . . isn't that kind of reaching deep into what we're all about here anyway? We're always looking to further the art of lucid dreaming.
I'm not against it, just expressing my opinion.

What I think Seeker meant was a Guild where people would test new techniques and supplements to achieve lucidity. It still needs a little thinking though, about the usefulness and purpose.
I've just noticed it, shouldn't web designing be on the Technical Guild?

Perhaps, though it really crosses disciplines. It is one thing to come up with a look and feel, quite another to code up the pages, themes, etc., and another yet again to create the graphics, multi-media, etc.
I don't think we want to get too overly fragmented with these divisions, so you may well have a point there.
-
Yeah, the web design and development aspect can span multiple guilds here. I was just wondering actually, which to put in my sig, and/or what the process would be for volunteering? I'm guessing just post in the appropriate forum?
I guess the Technical Guild would be the best place for me. Though I'd be happy to help out with the Creator's Guild as well.
-
I don't think there's any harm in collecting a couple or a few! It may even be necessary for some of us.
-
Reporting for duty.

Whaddaya wanna do?
-
Whatever guild ends up being the least filled or needs the most people. I'm good at lots of stuff. :3
-
Well, keep your eyes open and please jump in anywhere (and everywhere) you feel comfortable.
Thank you!
-
Would you like me to write a welcome thread for the Creator's Guild? I notice it is the only one without one.
Edit: I went ahead and posted it. :P
-
That's the spirit!
-
I'm having trouble deciding where I belong. @.@
Maybe some of you guys have a better idea:
-I'm basically the caretaker of our YouTube channel
-I have the facilities to create and process audio (music, possibly podcasts, I've wanted MM to have audio tutorials for a while)
-I take care of the WBTB meetings, haha (barely anyone has posted in the thread recently)
I'm actually up for a WBTB right now! I'll sleep on it, and hopefully have a decision tomorrow. Any suggestions?
-
I think you belong in the Creator's guild - or whatever that turns into.
We might want to consider something along the lines of a Promotional Guild, as that becomes more important once some of these other projects get going.
-
I was leaning toward that guild, thanks! I guess this is why joining and switching is totally free in terms of choice. :P
I thought that the Ambassadors Guild would handle that?
-
We now have four guilds. Are there any others that need created right now?
-
I think as we better settle on determining the responsibilities of these guilds that we will see more clearly how the concept should expand or change.
Seems like a good start! Still unclear about the promotional thing. Yes, the Ambassadors should be involved in promotion in a way, and perhaps that is the place for all of the promotional stuff. At the same time, it seems as though there are two very different things going on; linking us up across international borders verses raising our visibility to those who would be genuinely interested in lucid dreaming.
