:chuckle:  No worries.  I didn't even get past the shock of it.  I become lucid pretty reliably before I get really upset.

The following dreams were aided by caffeine overdose.  I currently consume caffeine semi-regularly, not everyday.  I haven't been getting headaches on days without.  Yesterday, I had somewhat more than usual:  Half a caffeine pill, a double shot, and a coffee spread out between 9am and 4pm.  This morning when AB got up for work, he woke me and gave me a 200mg caffeine pill.  It must be more than I'm used to because I woke up jittery.

Let's Go to the North Pole
I find myself in a dream in my room.  I fly through a closed window and dive into the cement, expecting there to be a puddle there . . . and I slice through water in the open ocean, endless deep blue below and all around.  I turn up toward the surface and the light, expecting to see floating ice, and bits of it are there.  So I swim up though the frigid waters toward that surface.  Once there, everything is white haze and I'm sure that I'm gonna wake and loose the dream.

But I concentrate on being a wolverine running with four legs in the snow, and a tunnel of vision of snow and sky forms ahead of me.  A voice asks me, "Wolverines have small paws?"  "No, they're large," I answer.  And I imagine my paws being large each time the contact the snow, with long, curving claws and dense, dark, soft fur.  "And they have short legs?" says the voice.  "Yes they do," I say.  And I feel those short legs moving with each bound, my snout in front, just a couple feet above the snow.  I'm following the trail of another wolverine.  I put my paws exactly where the prints are, copying the movements.  But now I feel that I have this down and wish that I didn't feel compelled to follow this trail.

Are You Addicted to Lucid Dreams?
The best way to determine if if MM members are addicted to lucid dreams or addicted to lucid dream research is to test them in a dream.  If they're taking the antibiotic, that means that they're addicted to lucid dreams.  If they're taking the other substance, this indicates that they are addicted to research.  We're all on a jumbo jet together (over the vast frozenness that is Greenland?), most of the MM community seems to be there.  Luminous and Naiya are helping me test people individually.  We're taking blood samples and will have to wait for the results.  But I find that I can already deduce who is what.  Luminous and Naiya are helping with the testing, so they're addicted to lucid dream research.  Most of the boys are impatient to get back to their dreams; obviously addicted to lucid dreaming.

North Pole Continuation
I really spend a lotta time exploring the frozen north:
There are all kinds of animals there.  Things that I didn't know existed, or not anymore.  They all seem to be carnivorous, killing each other for food.  Someone is showing me (the voice from before?) all the violent confrontations, guiding my path from one killing scene to another.  Blood, brain, bits of skull in the snow.  I don't want to see so much of this; it will give me bad dreams!  I see a giant furry creature similar to a giant sloth pin down a bear and start eating its belly while it struggles.  Then the voice tells me that a tan creature, a third a bear's size can kill a bear.  And now upon a different scene, I see this creature pounce on a huge bear, clawing and biting at its face and neck as the bear thrashes around, struggling to defend itself.  Pretty soon the tan creature is eating its kill.  I say, "But wolverines can bring down a bear too."  I refuse to let the voice scare me.  "Poor bears," I think, "everyone eats them."

There are different tribes in this bleak landscape as well.  Different human factions and chimpanzees.  The chimps form giant hunting parties that race over large territories.  The apes wear clothes out of necessity in the cold, something they learned from their human keepers when they were first transplanted here.  When humans were first exploring the north, they brought the chimps.  Then lost control of them, and they went wild, seemingly more intelligent than possible.  I see a gang of them pass by, watch their eyes flicker on me, and I'm not sure I'm off the menu.

The humans who live here are a rough people.  They remind me of the men of war-torn fantasy tales.  They wear leathers and furs, have dirty, unkempt beards with yellowing, crooked teeth, and wield large axes with gleaming edges.  In their camp, they are friendly toward me.  They and the other humans, such as the midgets, have littered the landscape with elaborate hunting traps.  Tripping a wire or stepping on a small metal disc will cause a metal-tipped spear to come flying, a net to be thrown, a log the size of a tree trunk to come flying with force, followed by another log from a perpendicular direction.

Men thought that midgets would be useful in exploring the north, so they recruited a number of them and they never left.  I am in the camp of their descendants.  The dwarfs also accept the half-lings in their camp.  They look like midgeted humans with down syndrome and are less intelligent than the chimpanzees.  But they can be taught simple tasks which they faithfully perform, such a cooking.  They are the descendants of dwarf-chimp hybrids.  I'm speaking to one of the dwarfs.  He has very little hair, but what little is left on his scalp is blond and buzz-cut.  He has pock marks that extend from his checks to half of his scalp, facial piercings, and tattoos.  With a gap-toothed, but cunning smile, he's telling me how lonely and hard these frozen wastes were for his ancestors.  Maybe if he had been alive during that time generations ago, he would have fucked a chimp too.  Maybe.  He explains thoughtfully that he doesn't know and can't say because he wasn't alive back then.  I'm looking up at him, so maybe I'm still a wolverine.

I guess you were lucky to be able to even sleep on it.
Yeah, I'm definitely different than most as far as that goes.  My Advanced Cardiac Live Support instructor was talking about a patient he saw who had serious palpitations after 3 energy drinks . . . and I've slept on 2.5.

That's cool and weird how that voice was asking you about wolverines, and then when you said the answer, your body changed to that.  Like the part of your body controlling that doesn't know much about wolverines, like it doesn't know everything that "you" do.
"I" was the one doing the changing.  From my perspective.  I was just talking to that voice at the same time.  It was definitely me, I was talking to myself, but it didn't feel like me.  Total disconnect.  Guess it was one of those split-persona things that arose from the process of remembering.  I think that I was trying to remember what I was supposed to do, and part of my brain that was remembering wasn't the part that was experiencing the dream first-hand.  Some of the knowledge was retrieved from somewhere else? :hrm:

Last dream was crazy!  That's like an old science fiction story, like Wells or Burroughs.
/sigh
Why can't my dreams be politically correct?

Good old ACLS.  Anyway yeah....I've been playing around with the effects of caffeine myself (taking less of it) and I find that amazing that you can actually sleep with all of that in your system.  I had my first pepsi in a few weeks and my heart starts pounding.

Caffeine critical failure:  So I feel dumb after just saying yesterday how I can sleep on caffeine ::).  But I guess I don't really know that it was the caffeine.  AB set the alarm for WBTB at 5am, and when it went off, I already felt wired, jumped out of bed feeling totally awake as if I'd never been asleep.  Then I took 200mg . . .

I should have been in withdrawal since I hadn't had caffeine since 7am the previous morning.

Anyway, I couldn't sleep.  I had some HI and was unconscious for a few minutes at a time in a transitional state.  And I wasn't dreaming that I had insomnia; I checked.  I think that maybe that was just the wrong time for WBTB for me.  I'd gone to bed at midnight . . .  And maybe the WBTB was too close to the time that I need to get up 3 days a week.

I rolled a 1 . . .

You checked for INRALD - good.  Too bad it wasn't.

Oh, it's okay.  I like too much caffeine.

So sleepy this morning . . .   And I seem to have squandered my journaling time.

Dream about shooting people in VATS, in the head, with a sniper rifle, at short range, in a small room.  They may have been zombies, I'm not sure, but they definitely meant me harm.  Armored Bore was there.

I had another Fallout inspired dream yesterday that was a story-like non-lucid like I have, but as it turned out I was lucid . . .  Makes me wonder once again about the nature of these dreams.  It doesn't really make sense that I should be non-lucid, thinking these things are real, and yet not more distressed about the circumstances in any of these dreams.  I should really write about it later.

I haven't been playing Fallout.  Tom has been playing it constantly for a long time and I'm not even out of the vault or whatever you call that place yet.  It seems like so much trouble.  I don't know why I don't do it.
May be that it's simply not the game for you.  But I would recommend getting out of the vault to give it a chance.  Or just skip it and play New Vegas. :D

Had difficulty falling asleep last night:  more evidence that it's just me.

Dream that I was shopping at a thrift shop.  Very enjoyable.  I wasn't even pissed when I woke up like last time.  Thrift stores seem to be a DS . . .

I don't know New Vegas.  Anything but that darn HOMM.  :shakehead:  I feel like I wasted my life when I get done playing that.
Oh, sorry.  It's the new Fallout.  Fallout: New Vegas.  I will be playing it myself pretty soon.  Recently found out that one of my friends was the Associate Producer, giving me more incentive to hurry up and play it.

A series of clear, realistic dreams in which the world wasn't obeying natural laws and I knew it.  It was upsetting me and I was complaining about things not making sense.  Really should have been lucid.

That, and I really need to do reality checks every time I have sex with AB, especially in the morning after trying to wake up to do so.   ::)

I'm so clueless today.
