Things exist in dreams because we think of them... We see them. So does that mean things we ignore, or take for granted wouldn't exist?

For instance, what is behind you in a lucid dream? Would the scene still exist, or would it merely disappear until you pay attention to it?

My take on this is that whenever you stop paying attention to an aspect of a dream, or lucid dream, it ceases to exist. However, smaller details like the background scene is still around whether we pay attention to it or not.

Sometimes when I walk through a wall in a lucid dream, I will turn my back to it because the wall will no longer be there, and I won't sense it as I go through it. However, the wall still pops up in front of me when I'm past it. I have also had success in making DCs disappear by turning my back to them and directing my attention to something or someone else.

Same is IRL.  Only there when you look at it.  Wink

Seems to me like a "If a tree fell in the forest, and no one was around to hear it, would it make a noise?" type of question to me.
