How Tags Are Read?
« on: June 16, 2010, 02:17:38 AM »
I'm not sure if this has been addressed already, or if any plans are in effect for the near future, but I've noticed that this forum doesn't recognize tags that put quotes around the content. Things like for example, won't work. This is only a problem in that the program I use publishes the template using the quotations, and while I have modified the template as best as I can, I cannot remove the quotes from all tags. Removing them by hand tends to make updating my DJ that much harder.

So, I'm not sure if there's a way to get the forum to read the tags both with and without the quotations or not, but I'd really appreciate it if it could be pulled off. :)

Hello Mario.

red

Yes, I see what you mean..  :shakehead:

It might be relatively easy to fix.  Stay tuned!

Which tags are most important?

Hi Loaf.

Do you mean you use the same app as Mario, and it produces , or you just want to use it normally?

..because it requires units, e.g. "pt" or "px" after the number (no spaces.)  Like this:

something  -> something

Mario, may I ask which program you're using?  It might be easier to modify the template to produce desired output vs changing the forum to accept different styles.

I'm using Banhurt's program. The template is variable, and I have removed all the quotes from it, but the use of colors in the actual content of the dream seems to be permanently fixed to have quotes. He has promised to release an open source version, at which point I may be able to tweak it, but until then (and there's no telling how long it may take), I'm stuck.

Color is the one I really care about. Size doesn't seem to matter so much. Like, I have it set to either 2 or 3, and it produces a slightly-larger-than-default font size, which actually works fantastically for my purposes. But fixing every defective color tag, especially when I do a lot of changing back and forth between scene description and action, is a real pain.

I'm pretty certain we can define custom tags - I vaguely recall installing a mod to do that.

That's a coincidence--it just so happens I've already figured out how to do this with the color tag.  It's more or less complex to change depending on the tag, but if color's the only one you really need I can have that fixed shortly.  (Of course, if you need any others, please ask.)

I haven't tried Banhurt's program; but I've seen a few very positive comments around here.

Hmmm..  I'm not seeing it.  There are some custom tag mods, but not defining custom tags mods.  This is just a two line change, so we don't really need that, but let me know if I'm wrong.

Both the colouring and the size tags, from what I've seen.

No objections here.

I'll see if I can do it with size tags too, BTW.  What units does Banhurt's program seem to be using?

I tried, and the size tags work.

I haven't done anything to it yet.  So you are suggesting we leave it alone then?

Yeah, the size tags work splendidly at the moment. :)
