100 Dream Things Wolve Wants to Do Before He Dies
« on: January 02, 2011, 11:59:24 AM »
It was thanks to Moonbeam's list of goals that I decided to both start my own and start a forum for the express purpose of giving a bit more spotlight to the pursuit of goals rather than just lucid dreaming for the sake of lucid dreaming.  In any case, after seeing Moonbeam's list, I realized there was more than just the one or two things I had been holding on to for the almost four years that I've been lucid dreaming that I wanted to accomplish.  Towards that, I am working on this list of 100 things I want to do in my dreams before I die.  At the moment I don't have that many, but in time my list will fill out, and hopefully I'll accomplish all of them in enough time that I can make another list of 100 things I want to do.  These things don't have to be done in a LD, but I do want to do them.

Total: 51

Family
  • Fall in love again with a DC I once cared for.
  • Travel to my forest dreamscape and spend the night with all of my RDC.
  • Watch my RDC daughter graduate.
  • Spend a night with my RDC, Crystal.
  • Spend a day hanging out with Siberia.
  • Have a glass of tea with Siberia's grandmother, Plague.
  • Find Spring again and ask her to show me the first tree that grew in her forest.
  • Find Widow and catch up on old times with him.
  • Meet Vixy by the lake we first met at and ask her the question that has been bugging me about her.
  • Find my dog again.

Self
  • Find my tree
  • Meet my high mind/SC and have him tell me his life story.
  • Transform into a dragon.
  • Meditate under a waterfall.
  • Become a DC's guide.
  • Remain unmoving throughout a dream and let the dream evolve around me and go on without me.

Sport
  • Outwit Crystal in a game of strategy.
  • Play a game of bobbin with Amy.
  • Complete the fullview challenge.  (Just to clarify, the fullview challenge was a dragon challenge that involved flying around a planet 16 times, and you had to fly through certain obstacles like a lava field and an extended cave system.  I would count it as a success if I made a good attempt at it, even if I didn't get the full 16 laps.)
  • Play Pooh Sticks (Thanks to Namaste for the idea.)

Learning
  • Ask Star if she will teach me to fight.
  • If yes, learn to fight from Star.
  • Stop time.
  • Learn the Nightrunners' Shadow Magick.
  • Learn stealth arts from the Nightrunners.
  • Run a mission with Siberia's uncle, Thief.

Astronomy
  • Travel to the sun.
  • See a nebula up close.
  • Travel to the Andromeda galaxy.
  • Venture into a black hole.
  • Create a pulsar.
  • Get hit by the jet from a quasar.
  • Watch the birth of a star.
  • Watch the birth of a galaxy.
  • Create a star.
  • Create a galaxy.

Travel
  • Fight alongside the Roman Army.
  • Go back in time and live a day with the Neanderthals.
  • Travel to Pompeii before the disaster and get to know the people.
  • Journey back to the Forest of Silence and ask the spirit of the forest to tell me her story.
  • Meet my 3rd great grandmother, June.
  • Build a civilization.

Other
  • Meet mother earth face to face and have a meaningful conversation with her.
  • Make my paradiso a regular dream feature.
  • Do a good deed for a DC.
  • Re-enter this dream and save Silver.
  • Kiss a DC.
  • Be born into a dream. (Thanks to StarSeeker for the idea.)

Do Anything - Experimental goals derived from the "Is Anything Possible?" thread.  These I am going to put here to see if I am able to do them or not.  It will be fun if I can, but I won't be disappointed if I can't.
  • Set the dreamscape and control it down to small details.
  • Relive a memory inside of a dream.
  • Watch a play?  (Need more clarification on this task before it becomes reasonable.  Play, location, actors, etc.)

Un-Numbered Goals - A section for likely unobtainable goals.  Successful completion in this section requires doing so without any manipulation of the results by the dreamer.  To clarify, the dreamer can initiate the action, e.g. begin possession of self by another DC, but the dreamer can't help along things afterwards by 'expecting' things to go a certain way, such as acting how one would expect the DC to act.
*Destroy the dreamer, but keep the dream going.
*Be possessed by a DC.
*Turn a DC into a dream god.

I have a failed attempt at Other-5: Kiss a DC.  Even though I was lucid in this dream, I couldn't bring myself to do it.

Lucid.  2011 November 07.
Clarity 2/5 Lucidity 3/5 :1s:

I become lucid, and decide that I want to complete some of the tasks and collect some badges.  First thing I do is the shout my name task.  I look up and shout, "Wolve!"  I then stop and wonder whether or not it requires I do my real name.  I really would rather not, because "wolve" is something I feel a lot more attached to than my 'real' name, but just in case, I shout my real name, "Cory", and then say "Wolve" again once or twice for good measure.

For my next trick, I decide to summon a DC.  I'm pretty sure my intent summoned the DC, but I'm not sure because I decided that's what I would do as the DC was being summoned.  I go up to the DC and have an internal battle about giving him a kiss, but since he has taken the form of a coworker I almost can't bring myself to do so.  I don't remember whether I did or not.

Here I have a FA.  (My notes say something about helicopter tricks, but I have no clue what that's all about.)

Maybe the SC is now aware of your goals and summoned a male DC who you knew to throw you off the kiss goal.

Your goals aren't even safe in your mind  O_O

...have you ever met anyone who actually changed?

@AspiR: It's fine, I'll beat that SC yet. :gun:

@Mb:  Yeah, you're probably right about that one.  It'll probably be a more enjoyable completion if I do it that way rather than trying to force it anyway.

On the topic of expecting someone to be somewhere, I wonder if and how that could be used to control the dream.  I've noticed in dream control that things that I expect or that other DC say usually come to happen in some form or fashion.  I wonder if it could be a subtler form of dream control to somehow pollute your SC's line of events this way to get what you want rather than trying to summon something or through other direct means.  I heard something a while back about a more effective way of using autosuggestion was to get your DC to believe something rather than to get yourself to believe it.  Something like that perhaps.  Of course, I don't have the lucidity to test it out yet.

That's pretty much what one of my DC said when I pitched the idea to him last night.  I did a very small scale testing of the idea, redirecting a knife's course, and it seemed to work.  The first time, the knife was flying in a curved path, and I inherently knew that it would curve around and come back, even though the curve wasn't great enough for that.  The second time, I forced myself to 'know' that, and it did that time as well, but I learned that it has to be done without any real thought that you're doing anything.  If you think about it too hard, the dream will start to destabilize.  If you don't think about it at all, though, in the same way that your non-lucid self would not think about something, then it doesn't destabilize the dream, and it seems to happen.

Now, I'm not saying that I am going to use this to complete my goal of kissing a DC.  For what it is worth, I try to let them have as much free will as they started with.  What I am going to try to use this for is to get the dream to 'naturally' change course to do what I want it to do without me having to fight with it.  If this works out, it'll be a good way to direct my SC's directing of the dream.  I wonder if the changes like this are due to the SC trying to keep things realistic.

I'm rambling now, though.  Here, this is the dream that gave me this idea.  In this dream, changes were a lot more pronounced, and I got to see how the dream changes things.

Dream Mutation.  2011 August 03.
Clarity 3/5  Lucidity 0/5 :4s:

We are looking at a green house.  There are a row of brown sheds out front that mutate into guard shacks when I notice one is smaller than the rest of them and looks like it is set back in the road.  The guard shacks then mutate in all of these rolling metal gates, which dad declares were designed to be drawn out of the way by the horses when need be.  This, of course, brought horses, and the house mutated into a barn where pit bulls and horses were running around.  There was one dog, who was a mix of brown and pinkish-purple with a pink nose, who had a little puppy.  The dogs were there to mind the horses.  At one point, this brown horse started running around, and I had to calm it down.  Then, when I checked the dogs, the puppy was in with the big dogs, but it was sitting by the door.  I sit down with the puppy, and I wake up.

I decided to try the method Kar posted in Tech Development yesterday, and got an INRALD out of it.  I wanted to use a simple goal, not like the ones I posted in the above list, so I made a short goal instead.

1. To tell a DC they are in my dream.
2. To have a conversation with a DC.
3. To ask a DC a question.

I got the first two.

Quote
I am laying in my bed, trying to WILD (I later realize that I was in my old bed, which meant I was already asleep).  I eventually give up, getting nowhere, but for some reason, I decide to RC.  I don't have thumbnails, so I can't do my usual, so I bite my tongue instead.  I can't get a very good bead on things, so instead I bite my lip.  I don't feel anything, so I start to think I am dreaming.  I go over and try my light switches.  They don't work, and after a few seconds of flipping every nearby switch to no effect, I become lucid.

I remember my goal, "To tell a DC that they are in my dream, to have a conversation with them (to see if they are able to have rational conversations), and to ask them a question."  I walk around my apartment, looking for a DC, but I don't find any.  I call out, "hello!", being pretty sure that if I start talking to one one will appear.  I turn around, and a DC that looks like a distant coworker appears.  I go up to her and hug her, and she turns into an old waitress from a restaurant I used to go to.  She walks around to a clothes rack in the other side of my apartment, and I follow her.

"Hey, you know that you are in my dream?" I ask her.

"Well isn't that [wonderful?].  I just got here, just in a flash.  Is that (I presume she is talking about lucid dreaming here) some new power that humans have invented?"

"Nope, we've had it since the beginning of time," I respond.  I would have asked her a question somewhere in here, but the dream destabilized almost instantly and I found myself laying in bed.

Looking through the questions to ask DC in the Deep Dreaming board, I have decided the question I want to ask a DC is "What do you do when I am awake?"

I'm linking where this is going.

Want another dream goal? To be born into a dream.

Cool!  Questioning and interacting with DC's is one of the more (or maybe the most) interesting thing to do in dreams, IMO. They come up with some crazy stuff.

I most definitely agree.  DC's fascinate me, especially trying to find out how they respond to things, how intelligent they are, and whether they have their own intelligence (as opposed to being dream objects with attached voices).

I'm linking where this is going.

Nice :goodjob:

When I said Be born into a dream, don't take this too literally. Even in goals, don't confine yourself to reading a certain goal in a certain way.
