I never killed myself in a dream, but I have died many times. Especially when I was a little kid and had nightmares. But usually I just wake up after I die in a dream.

Once I decided I needed to wake myself up immediately I decided to do it in a way that would complete a task. Thinking hard I remember someone saying that killing yourself is a sure way to wake yourself up. Though I did not like the idea very much I thought "when will I ever want to wake myself up again? Though it made my stomach queasy I asked some of the campers around if they had a knife I could borrow. Two guys immediately offered blades, I picked the one from the camper in a Mohawk because his blade was black (harder to see the blood) and because the tip, instead of tapering down to a normal point, looked like the blade of a box cutter and in which the furthest point of the knife made a 90 degree angle, the edge tapering backwards.

I slit my wrist across, feeling the slicing pain, a numbness and weakness in my hand and fingers and the almost burning heat of blood running down my forearm and off my elbow. I felt disgusted with what I was doing, but not afraid. The DC's around me freaked out, most running away, except for the mohawk kid, he said "sweet!" and one in the background in the most cliche overly dramatic way "But you have SO MUCH to LIVE FOR!!!" I then remembered that you are supposed to cut down along your tendons and not across, so I cut myself again, the blood suddenly gushing much more profusely. The dream started to blur, and suddenly went helter-skelter it took me a moment to realize I had fallen over. I looked at the "X" on my wrist, and tried to move my fingers and couldn't, when suddenly grass started growing over my arm and hand as it seemed to sink into the dirt. I realized I was floating up above my body, and watched as the whole corpse sank into the dirt and was covered in grass while the dream faded completely and I woke up in bed.

I would not have the courage to do it. But yet it seems... amazing, in a somewhat dark way.
Do you think it replicates what would happen in waking life?

It definitely is touching on a deep level. I have no idea if that is what it would be like, but for some reason that does seem right, that dying would feel much the same as when a dream is slipping away from you. You start by slowly losing your sensory inputs, until vision is what is left, then that too fades away....

You know, that may just be what I need! New dream goal!

Never died in a dream. Although now I am curious to see how my dream body would respond to grabbing a live electrical wire.

I died once falling from a really tall ladder
and for a long time i had a fear of heights and still have
just a fear of falling sometimes.

You can't but it's fun trying, or letting others try.

Being run over by a train couldn't even do it. How would one go about trying to kill your dream body while lucid and expect to have a simulated death experience? maybe if you believe that you can you might be able to create an experience of shooting yourself and then leaving your body to another afterlife or something. But guns have not been able to do me any harm in dreams, nothing has been able to for that matter.

I have however, had dreams where I thought I might have died and I wasn't sure if I actually died or was just in a dream and my body sleeping. Turns out, I was just dreaming as I'm still here to tell it. :)
