More mods to consider
« on: April 24, 2008, 01:48:38 PM »
Updating this on 4-29-2008 to remove those things either unnecessary or explored...

First is the custom BBCode mod.  I don't have the link for it right here, but it is for 1.1.4, as are all of these I was looking at.  This would accommodate the creation of specialized formatting options for the Dream Journals.

Paypal Donations: http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=273
This has been in the works since inception.  The goal is to have members be able to make free-will donations to help support the site.  There is a merchant paypal account in the works, as well as ongoing research into an appropriate legal structure.

Simple Awards System: http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=539
This would accommodate the Lucid Challenges, setting up a way to distribute rewards if we so choose.

Spoiler Tag: http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=195
Because we really could use a spoiler tag here.

Treasury: http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=916
Possibly a more effective alternative to the Paypal Donations option above.

YouTube BBCode: http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=936
Provides BBCode tag for embedding youtube vids.  We've had a couple requests for this.  The only reason to have it would be to facilitate video lucid training, etc.  I'm hesitant to offer this, but it might be nice to install and test it for if we do decide to make it available.

Auto Tooltip and Auto Linktip: http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=1140

This mod appears to meet the requirements of having auto-tooltip translation of all our standard acronyms.

I would like to have all lucid dreaming acronyms instantly translatable by tooltip, and it would be really cool to be able to link back to a related technique or whatever, if such a post or thread is available.

Can you point me to the BBcode mod you were looking at?  I can't find one that is compatible with 1.1.4.

Maybe it isn't among the 1.1.4 mods.  I'll look again tomorrow.

Hey - if you get a moment, please take a look at the new drop-down field I tried adding at ipsoscope.  I couldn't make it work.  It's showing up in the admin panel, but is broken somehow.  You'll see what I was trying to do.

Thanks.

There is a whole lot of admin panel.  Where should I be looking and what am I looking for?

Heh - yeah.

In the tab for creating new profile fields - the one the mod installed, under Features and Options=>Custom Profile Fields.

Somebody requested a drop-down to show how long you had been lucid dreaming.  It looked like it should be a breeze with that mod - but it just wasn't working out for me.

Thanks again.

What's the problem with it?  I went to edit profile, chose an option, saved it, and displayed profile.  It shows up towards the bottom underneath the DJ entry.

*Edit*

Logged in with your account.  It did not display on the profile.  Did some testing and chose an amount for your profile.  It now displays.  I wondered if the very first entry is reserved as a "do not display" option for people that have not chosen anything.  I set profile back to "less than one month".  It still displays in profile.

It appears that the database doesn't register an entry for the user until they actively choose an option and then save the changes to the profile.  After that, then it will show up.

Do we still need to look at the Enable/Disable themes mod or is that moot point?

Nope - don't need it.  I had removed it from the list, in fact... at least I think I did.
