...some say it's the analysis of data collected using a set method in order to imply a given trend. The name really doesn't matter, but I would like to make something as closer to a study as possible, to make contribution of new knowledge to lucid dreaming that we can back in some way, as primitive as that way may be. Meditation occurred to me. It's easy and cheap to do, people seem to have experienced good improvements in lucidity when practicing meditation.
Maybe it would last two/four weeks. The first part would be without meditation and the second part would introduce meditation within certain parameters. No lucid aids to introduce hard to predict-and-measure effects. But first, we need a group of people with the same (relatively) dream pattern characteristics.
Waiting for some feedback on this. I'm not in a hurry.

This is an interesting idea! What supps are you considering using? Or did you imply just the meditation?

Just the meditation. EDIT: If we wanted to try some sort of chemical aid, I'd prefer to go with easily accessible herbal teas. Cheap, easy to find, and irrelevant side-effects.

My dream patterns are average recall of 2 - 4 dreams a night of late, with usually one night of no recall on rehearsal nights.
I also practice meditation - a simple mind-clearing exercise for 20 minutes or so a couple times a day. I would be willing to suspend that and/or modify it in the name of science.

I wasn't thinking of jumping right into that pj. Not just yet.
First, we need to know what will be required to level. Do we include the average number of sleep hours? Do we control light? DrT wrote in a PM some starting points: «1) focused intent, vs. flowing with HI 2) light vs. dark 3) arbitrary time of day vs. WBTB 4) binaural audio beats or not? or some other brainwave entrainment method? 5) If binaurals, delta, vs theta, vs, alpha, vs gamma.»
I think something simple, would do. Probably just limiting the first phase to recording dreams (and we'd set up a small online form for people to fill in for each night) and nothing more. Not even WILD. The second phase would just introduce meditation.

I'll be watching to see what emerges, and will be very willing to be a participant!
The more variables that can be monitored/controlled/limited, the better, usually.

Why not just start with everybody's baseline, then add meditation, and see what happens? (Assuming people aren't already doing it.) It's hard to control for everything, but you don't really need to, if everybody keeps doing exactly what they always do, then everybody changes just one thing, and see if it makes a difference. We're all already starting from different places anyway, we are never going to be able to control all the variables.
The one suggestion that I would make is for a somewhat longer period of study. Two to four weeks is a very short time. However, any longer it's difficult to keep up the meditation and keep people interested, so I see why you might want to keep it short.
I just need to know how to meditate.

I must be missing something, Star; I apologize--I can't figure out what this is about. Are you saying you want us to meditate in a certain way, and see how it affects our dreams? I don't use any sort of supplements, or even practice any techniques, if that's helpful at all. Also, I know how to meditate, but I haven't been doing it lately. I'm not gonna give up coffee though.

I'm not gonna give up coffee though. But it's for science! And dreaming! (We have to give up coffee? )

I'm really confused, man. StarSeeker merely "thanks" me, and But it's for science! And dreaming! (We have to give up coffee? ) But I don't know if we have to give up coffee! I'm just saying.. I still don't know what Star wants us to do! He won't tell me. Maybe the experiment is to see what I dream about after I've lost my mind.

It wouldn't involve changing coffee habits. Probably only CWILDs.
