It may get better. Sometimes I think that I've been through so much Hell that there's got to be a bit of Heaven coming my way sooner or later. And besides, if we had heaven all the time we'd probably not appreciate it very much. We'd be like... Oh damn, another fabulous day of non stressful life. I'm so stressed most of the time that when something great happens I enjoy it with a zeal that makes others look at me like I'm a wee bit on the nutty side. I don't mind though. Weird things make me happy. Getting the ring is a weird thing that will make me happy. And there'll be plenty of good weird surprises as well as bad in this continuum... and next one if there is a next one. I imagine I'll probably only get stranger each continuum.

I have, which is in the the next lucid dream to be added, actually. It is the dream where I concluded I have to take The Ring or have it given to me.

Since Frodo kind of irked me from the very start I made up my mind to take The Ring from him. Doesn't help none when I'm encountering various Frodos, Frodo Tolkien in a couple of dreams, Young Frodo in another dream, Elijah Wood Frodos and now characters associated with Elijah Wood that have nothing to do with the LotR realistically, yet are mildly tied in to my quest in dreams. My SC really hates me, I think.
 :'(

edit: & then there's my non lucid LotR dreams which kind of show how slowly and strangely my brain is toying with me. I wasn't going to add them  here but I think I will. Most aren't as long winded as the lucid ones, thankfully.

And I bet if anyone else were to go after The Ring while lucid, they'd nab it right off the bat.

Non Lucid: Of Being Pursued and Pursuing
February 4th 2013

I am watching the movie The Hobbit and am not initially part of the dream. The scene morphs into a mix of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings and now I am in the midst of it. I am part of a small group that is being lead across country by Gandalf. Aside from the wizard our group consists of hobbits, dwarves, an elf, and me.

As we come out from a small cluster of trees our group is ambushed. I can't see who is attacking us, there is too much turmoil. All I know is that we must keep our eyes on Gandalf and follow where he leads. Soon we are chased into a canyon from which there appears to be no escape. The elf moves apart from us and rapidly shoots arrows into the rock of the canyon wall. He has created a ladder of arrows for us to climb up and out of the canyon.

Frodo is first to be sent up the ladder. As he climbs up and away from us I realize, angrily, that he is escaping with The Ring. I want it. I have to get it even though I'm not entirely sure why. All I know is that I need that ring. Frodo will probably run and hide with it once he is safely out of the canyon. What if we can't find him again?

But I can't charge up the arrow ladder after him, not yet. Merry and Pippin are by me and I send them up the ladder ahead of me. As much as it agonizes me to do so, I help Merry & Pippin climb the arrows. The arrows change to things that look like bicycle pedals sticking out of the rock wall. The hobbits are too short to safely reach the pedals so I take even more time to help them by repositioning the pedals as we climb.

Gandalf is suddenly at the top of the canyon. He reaches down and yanks Pippin to safety. It occurs to me then that everyone but me and Merry are out of danger. I keep shoving at him to get to the top but he keeps struggling and I keep getting angrier knowing that the longer we take the greater chance of me losing The Ring.

Non Lucid: Of Secret Tolkien Text
February 6th 2013

I happen across a stash of very old books in a very large library. As I pick through them I find a thick, journal-like book that is tied shut with a strap of worn leather. I untie the leather and flip through the hand written book.

"No way!" I whisper in amazement when I realize what I have in my hands. It is a previously undiscovered text by JRR Tolkien. The writing is messy and I can't make out much of it but what I can read gives me hope. I've spun many ideas about in my mind trying to figure a way to find The Ring and this book has different methods that I can use to acquire it!

I read from it for quite some time, telling myself that I MUST remember these methods.

(Of course, I don't remember a damn thing I had read once I am home again)

Non Lucid: Of Smoky Tree and White City
February 19 2013

I am running and cannot remember if it is to or from something. In the distance a barely visible pillar of smoke whirls up into the blue sky. I come to a halt and watch as the smoke pillar becomes thicker and darker. A voice from my left startles me, "It's not good."

Baromir from LotR is my unexpected companion. He asks what I think the smoke means. I tell him that I haven't a clue. Together we walk in the direction of the smoke pillar, Southward. Baromir stops me and tells me the smoke is rising from the direction of Minas Tirith, that beacons should be lit to summon help for the city. We both begin running toward the smoke and the city. He wonders why the beacons have not been lit.

We continue toward the smoke. At the top of the pillar several thin tendrils of smoke swirl upward. They form into the shape of the White Tree. "See that?" I yell, directing Baromir's attention to the top of the smoke pillar. He sees something but he isn't seeing what I see. When I explain to him what I see, Baromir takes off full tilt toward the city. I follow far behind him, not knowing exactly why. I'll be of no help if the city is under siege. But there is a reason for me to be there, I'm sure. Something will be waiting for me. Whether that something is good or bad, I don't know. I keep running for the smoke.

Non Lucid: Of Traveling & Troll Hoard
Feb 25th 2013

I am traveling behind my companions. Suddenly were are in the midst of a cave that is filled with treasures of all shapes and shininess. It's a troll hoard! I snoop through it with Bilbo H Baggins and Gandalf. There are so many things that I'd love to scoop up and bring with me but Gandalf tells me to put it all back. I'm not to take anything, at least not yet. I dump back all my treasures and I must have looked extremely pissed off because the wizard assures me that this isn't the time for bitterness. There'd be plenty of time for pillaging treasure later. Also, I am not to return to the treasure trove alone later. I am not allowed back at all until the time is right.

As if sensing my defiant thoughts, who died and made Gandalf god, the wizard informs me that he must cast a spell on me to make  me forget where the treasure is located. The spell would be temporary. I object. Bilbo objects. Bilbo points out how horrendously forgetful I am, and assures Gandalf I will proably never be able to find the treasure again anyway. I agree with Bilbo whole heartedly. No spells are needed. I'll forget all on my own.  Gandalf considers it but shakes his head. He comes to me, places his hand over my eyes and begins muttering words I can't understand.

Next thing I know it is night. We are still traveling by moonlight. I follow behind Bilbo. Bilbo follows behind Gandalf. We continue onward, me more concerned about where we are headed than where we just came from.

Non Lucid: Of Bag End and Baubles
Feb 28th 2013

It is night and I wander through unfamiliar neighborhoods. It is nice, quiet, peaceful. I am free of daytime troubles. Soon, I run into Bilbo H Baggins. I am very happy to see him, as if I am meeting a very old friend after a very long time apart. We stroll through the streets together, chatting idly about our idle ways, we both haven't been up to very much by the sounds of if it.

Suddenly, as if imparting the secret of life, Bilbo quietly informs me that he wants to write a new book. He begins sharing tidbits of ideas with me. I encourage him to do it. I then share a few story ideas of my own with Bilbo. I have an idea to write a story that revolves around him yet doesn't include him directly. He encourages me to write my story as well. He likes the idea of the story revolving around him. The thing about it is, it'd be nice to sprinkle a few real stories about him through the book. I ask if he has any to share, stories he wouldn't mind me putting out in the public. "There are hundreds of stories, maybe more, but not all are suitable for a child's ears," he says loudly. This draws people's attention and they stare at us as we continue walking and talking.

We are soon in Bilbo's basement. He digs through mountains of stored items, books, boxes, barrels, baubles of all shapes and sizes. Occasionally he'll hold something fondly and tell me what it is and how he acquired it. One trinket I remember vividly is Bilbo's moonglass. It looks like a smoked glass monocle. It has a band attached to it, like it is to be worn as an eye patch. The moonglass is something directly from Smaug's treasure. By day it is an unremarkable thing. By night it helps one to see clearly in the dark. To look through it one would see the world lit up as if walking by the brilliant light of a full moon. I think it is amazing and ask him if i can have it. He tells me no and stashes it away again.

Bilbo smiles suddenly and tells me I should go through my own collections and bring back a couple of interesting items and the stories that go with them. Aha! He wants to swap stories. I'm game for that, especially if it'll get me a few stories to write about in my own book. I agree to it. But the time has grown late. Bilbo ushers me upstairs and to the front door. "Come back in a few days for tea. I drink it precisely at 4pm. And bring some trinkets with you. There'll be much to talk about then. I might even share one or two Frodo stories with you."  When I tell him I don't want Frodo stories he escorts me out the door and assures me that I'll want all the Bagginses stories I can collect. I shrug and start on my way home. When I turn and wave farewell Bilbo yells, "4pm. Remember!" I nod and begin my long journey home.

Just off of a quick scan of this thread, I've found 3 Lord of the Rings dreams. Big fan I take it? I'm pretty jealous of how talkative your DCs are. Mine rarely appear, let alone have a conversation about how they are "as real as you are here". I would love to have a conversation with one...
-Oh, no, no. I was just wondering if you could help me find my way.
-Well that depends on where you want to get to.
-Oh, it really doesn't matter, as long as...
-Then it really doesn't matter which way you go.

Thanks. I suppose I'm a fan, more of a fan than anyone I personally know at least. My DCs aren't all that talkative, I don't think. If the were tremendously talkative I'd never remember anything they said. It's when they say very little, or ask questions, that I remember convos almost word for word. And it's usually near the end of dreams when I remember convos well enough to write them out. They are fresher in my memory. I can still hear their voices.

Also, in DILDs is where I have the majority of convos with DCs. In WILDS I'm usually alone or meet up with uncooperative DCs. I wish we could all just get along.
