I Dreamyth: Of Rings & Other Middle Earthly Things
« on: May 19, 2013, 08:01:35 PM »

This journal is where I'll chronicle my attempts and eventual successful acquisition of The One Ring from Lord of the Rings.
My major goal is to try on the ring while lucid just to see if anything will happen.

Thanks, I think. lol. I suppose they are fan fiction in a way, though at the time I was actually living them. I wonder if a fan fictiony dream thread would be be worth starting? I'd be interested in reading through a thread of similar type dreams from others.

Thanks. when I saw fan fiction I was worried you were comparing the dreams to most bad fanfic stories I have had the displeasure of reading in the past.  :chuckle:

The focus is kind of an illusion. The dreams are spread pretty far apart but to compile them all in one location makes it seem as if the ring quest is a fairly regular and consistent part of my dream patterns. Really, they're pretty random. I do like the illusion of it though, makes me look as if I'm a hard core, super focused lucid dreamer. I should organize all my dreams this way.

Oh no.  I haven't really even read any, I just knew it existed.  Yours is good fan-fic.  (It's weird to call it fiction; it's not non-fiction, but it's not exactly fiction either.  But your mind did create it, so you "wrote" it, both the dream, and then the telling of it.

Yesss...tricksy.

We'll have to come up with a new term for such dream inspired stories. Dreams hold a place of their own between fiction and non fiction. What would we call that place?
I may have to start a thread on this and pick the brains of fellow MM geniuses.

Even more impressive, you had a dream that had an actual ending. I don't think I've ever experienced a clear starting or ending of a dream. I'm usually just plopped into a scene and engaging in something that is already there and occurring, just like my life, finding myself in odd situations out of the blue and pushed here and there, not really having any real start or end to things. Just an odd continuum that I've been sucked into.

Yeah... that about sums up my life... and odd continuum that will conclude with my death, I suppose. Unless there's life after death and I'll probably find myself sucked into yet another odd continuum.
