This is a dream journal containing nothing but lucid dreams. I post only the lucid dreams because I'm somewhat lazy, and don't like spilling too much real-life on the internet (which is a reason, as you will find, that most of what I do in lucid dreams consists of a completely fictitious cast and set). I lie. Because Raklet's dream statistics are only going to get more awesome, I will now be including regular dreams as well as lucid ones. But don't expect them to be too lengthy!

Lucids are in indigo. Everything else is in black.

The following are reoccurring characters. Ones that have a link will show you a poorly made photoshop edit I made of them.

Quote
Elkoon, the forest sprite that my mind invented in my first induced lucid dream. My original intention was to make him a dream sign, but now I'd rather use him as a sidekick. He's mischievous, childish, cute when small, and wiser when large. He enjoys shapeshifting (which gets on my nerves) and hates the indoors. I find him most often hiding a few feet in the forest.

Mercutio, a dark blue dragon which has saved me when I lost control while flying. He is sarcastic, but somewhat serious. He is a citizen/guardian of Terraturi, and helped me rescue the town. I most often see him in the air while flying, either in a city or above the forest.

Pink: The pink-haired chick in overalls that runs the teleportation video store. She was a centrifugal character in my 'teleport tutorial' dream, and is much too interesting a character to not visit at least once more!
Birdgirl: A pink-haired chick--literally! Half human, half chickadee, she was transformed against her will. The transformation continued until it poisoned her mind. Luckily, a cure was found, and she was revealed to be the character Pink.

The General: An older man, around the early 40's. Caucasian, orange-haired, mustached, and blue-eyed (with very narrow pupils). He is stern and strict, but has a soft spot for children. He believes dragons are evil, and captured Mercutio at one point. He lives at The Base.

Koran/Juan, a taller man of unknown ethnicity (Hispanic or Middle-Eastern, I shall never know) which has come to me in four of my earlier induced lucid dreams. He acts as a chauffeur, confident, and mischief maker. He is nice to me, but sly. The other DCs do not trust him that well. I don't find him at any place in particular, and haven't sought him out recently.

Part 1

After much non-lucidity, I false awaken and reality check. Tests confirm that I am dreaming, so I head out of my room, backflip through the glass door to the outside, and go into the forest. I just walk and look for a bit at the daytime scene, but the farther I go, the thinner the forest becomes, until the "forest" is little more that a few scattered saplings and well-cut grass.

Eventually, I become bored of the suburban scene, and fly straight up to get a good view. I'm slightly higher than the trees, and see a bridge in the distance. When I approached the curved blue arch, I land and survey my surroundings. I can see a tumultuous river below, and farmland around. I am near the base of the bridge, and start climbing it. I immediately notice that with each step, I see much farther than a single step higher should warrant. I use this to my advantage, and soon far-off neighborhoods, forests, and cities make their way into my sight, as the bridge seems to keep growing taller, moving and alive.

The city nearest looked the most peculiar. Its buildings were tall and highly modern, with interesting architecture. The tallest building looked the most conventional, if you were able to disregard the giant tree resting on top. The tree reminded me of a willow in winter: gnarled and bare, but erect. Around the tree, surprising enough, were birds! Birds of every species, from robin to cockatiel. As I look at the odd flock, the bridge inches closer to the town, so that I could more easily see individual birds. Oddly, a similarly chaotic flock appeared in my previous lucid dream (of course, I thought nothing of it then!). I was just about to fly out to them, thinking it would be a good idea, when I heard a precautionary voice.

“You don't want to do that,” said some female, also on the bridge. She must've read my thoughts, because I hadn't started flying yet. I looked for the source of the voice, and found it. Sitting on the bridge was a being half human, half bird. The hood of a pink sweatshirt hid a sad chickadee face and a somewhat familiar tuft of hot pink hair.

Nearly speechless, I still managed to ask “What's wrong?” and “How can I help?” She answered both in turn, with a stoic "beats me." I hugged her until I could feel the warmth and texture of her hoodie. Then, I vowed to help her, flew off, and woke up. This was at 4:50. I still had one REM period left, and planned to ask familiar dream characters about her ailment.

Part 2

I ended up having a normal dream. That is, until the end of it. I was boarding a bus, and the driver pulled me to the side as I stepped on.

“There's someone waiting for you in back,” he muttered. It was the birdgirl, in the far back seat. I asked the man to let her stay on, telling him she was well-mannered and wouldn't cause trouble. Unbelievably, I was not lucid. He looked at her once more, warily in the mirror, closed the bus doors, and began driving off. I woke up, unable to shake the feeling she was following me.

Yeah? The linkage between the dreams is what really interests me. I mean, I can understand birdgirl showing up in the next dream, because I was obviously thinking about her when I fell back asleep. And perhaps it even accounts for the dream I had yesterday (which had a mannequin with a chickadee standing atop). But maybe not. As the Flock of birds reappeared, and I didn't show any special interest in them at all.

The link is indeed fascinating.  It will be interesting to see whether she shows up again.  Hopefully if she does you can use her to trigger lucidity.

Dreams in this post:   D:1 L:1 F:0

This is an entry from a few weeks ago that I finally got around to putting up. The first is dated June 1st.

I've been dabbling with my own sort of VILD, and have had confusing, mediocre results. I have dreams, and what I incubate might cameo in them, but the dreams remain non-lucid. I've been visualizing Elkoon, as he's probably the best DC to help with the birdgirl problem. The first incubated dream with him had him arguing with himself. I knew that each time the voice changed, he was swapping sides. The sides he spoke with represented two friends who are currently quarreling in real life. He asked me questions as to whose side I should be on, and I told him I wouldn't choose a side. At this, he performed the Cheshire cat act, disappearing nearly completely, except for the head. I snapped and told him to come back with an adamant tone, and he took his time reappearing by mocking my snaps (appearing a bit more with each snap). Just when he came back into original form, he shifted into my cat, and laughed. I'm posting this non-lucid piece of dream because it supports the idea that Elkoon is not just a character, but a guide of sorts. Everything he said and did was tinged with meanness.

The second dream I had is from June 6th, and had lucidity. After non-lucidity, I get to a point where I'm driving at super high speeds on a bridge-like highway. I don't like these types of dreams, as they often end with me waking up ill. I end up stopping the car out of self-defense, and then I became lucid due to the easily spotted dreamsign. Suddenly I was back in my room. I look at my hands for a bit, and think to myself that dreams must be stories. Otherwise, how could I experience them like this? I go into my backyard, ready to fly. I then remembered that I was going to ask Elkoon how to heal Birdgirl. I stand in one spot and look for the creature, and when I spot him, her starts bounding away. When I call his name, he turns around and comes back, shifting colors from bright orange to a dull forest green. I then ask him how to cure Birdgirl.

"Well first," he begins, contemplatively, "you must become invisible."

Invisible? What was that supposed to mean? Where? Did he mean literally, or figuratively? I asked him, but he didn't seem to know either. The dream dissembles into another false awakening
, which contained only a few minutes of non-lucid chore.

Now we're catching up. These two are from the 15th.

I have to crap, but not that badly. I seek a bathroom in a building similar to a store. I find the bathroom, but it appears to be under construction. Mainly, the only partition separating it from the men's room is ten feet and a wall of air! I wasn't about to expose myself like that! I exit the bathroom and people are staring at me like I'm some sort of nut for not shitting in front of them all. In a hall between the store and the warehouse part of the store, I see my plecostomus, a friendly sign that I am dreaming. I wasn't as surprised as I was frustrated. "Of course I'm dreaming! That should've been obvious!" Thoughts already bubbling over Birdgirl and invisibility, I decide to make my way outside. Why outside? Well, I find my best dream characters (Elkoon, Mercutio) somewhere in the outdoors. I figured Birdgirl would be similar.

As I headed for the red exit sign, I passed the lawn and garden department. A large bag of seed had burst open, leaving a big pile surrounding the ripped bag. Around the bag busily pecked Birdgirl, who was now wild, timid, and naked. As soon as she saw me, she began running, head bent low and arms to the side--running much more like a bird than a person. I wanted to grab an arm to keep her from running too far. I had her cornered, with another seed display separating us. She was flailing, when suddenly I thought to myself: invisible.

I backed up a bit and concentrated a little. I had tried becoming invisible before, but failed (in that dream, I took my hands in front of me and visualized them disappearing), so I thought of how I could relate to invisibility. I came up with FPS games! In quite a few FPS, you can't see your own feet. Usually you just see your hand, and whatever weapon is in your hand. The thought appeared to be working, because Birdgirl stopped acting so scared. My frame of reference approached her until I went in. There was blackness. Not so much darkness as the lack of an image, as if my eyes had been closed for a while. All the little fuzzies moves calmly and slowly, changing direction with each inhale and exhale. I figured I should talk, if only to maintain the dream.

"I think you're going to be fine now. What is your real name?" One of my old trademarks was asking DCs for their names. Also, it was getting to feel kind of mean calling her "Birdgirl" all the time.

"You already know. I know you know." It felt as if we both said that sentence. I took this as proof that she is actually Pink, a dream character known for her vibrant pink hair and teleportation expertise, who I had been meaning to recontact. She reminded me of Pink the first time I saw her, but only due to her hair. Anyway, the dream didn't let me stay within Pink for long, and I soon woke up.

It's 6:00, and I look outside to view a gorgeous sunrise. There's a hot pink light on the horizon, contrasting well with the gray clouds that dominate the rest of the sky. A car pulls up with a family that live far away from me. I reality check, and instead of talking to them, or even answering the doorbell, I sneak into the backyard. I'm still dreaming, apparently. The sky is now clear, sunny and blue. The trees are tall and sparse, with mowed grass. In the distance, I see a city. So I fly. It was a nice flight until my perception skewed. At first I was high in the air, viewing the city buildings from above as tiny specks of gravel. As I reflect on that metaphor, the specks actually become gravel, and I'm flying only a couple inches above ground! I stop flying at this point, and walk. The city has posters of a show. Thinking of theater makes me think of video stores, which makes me think of visiting the recently-healed Pink. I enter the theater, and the ticket taker informs me that Pink's video store is on the third floor of the next building over. I wake up before I get there.

A couple interesting notes about that second half of the dream. It's funny, that up until typing this, I didn't see any significance in the pink sunrise. Also, the tall, sparse trees, mowed grass, and city mimic the beginning setting of a story/game/RPG I was contemplating, where a bunch of detectives (or just one) were trapped inside the dream of a homicidal maniac that used dreams to kill his victims. The detective/s enter the dream with no knowledge that it's a dream, and (start out) with no knowledge of who they are.

2:30 AM
Turret chase+Theater casting:

The turrets from Portal are attacking! On a highway, I run from them, thinking I am playing the game. They've got wheels now. I meet up with a dark-skinned kid because we need to prepare for a play. I take a risky shortcut to get to the theater. According to the director, I get to be the Judge. The play is supposed to be a comedy, and although I'm disappointed with the dry part, I agree to do the play. The director says that I was an hour late, which is why I got the role. The director and the rest seem annoyed with me...

6:45 AM
Maze planet:

The theater junkies are still upset at my tardiness. But I don't care. In fact, I'm tired of them making a big deal over something so trivial, so I walk out.

The scene changes to the night sky. It's as if I'm in space, but my body isn't there. Thin lines appear, connecting the stars into new, interesting constellations. I see a duck, an umbrella, and some other shapes. It looks 3D, and I'm a little impressed. The more I look at it, the more complex the shapes become. My perspective is changing. It now appears that I'm moving through them, towards a sandy maze planet. The shape is incomplete. The maze planet isn't a sphere, nor does the curved surface even cover a hemisphere. There are spaces and cracks in it, too. The field of gravity is pulling me into one of the two green-spotted colonies...

On the planet, I walk around a giant rectangular lake. The water is algae-free, but still has pollution. I see paper and cut grass near the edges. One of my friends (one who loves astronomy) and what I assume to be her boyfriend are fishing by the lake. There is a slight drizzle. Suddenly I realize that nobody knows where I am, and that I must leave. She doesn't understand why. A dollar floating in the lake catches my eye, but it is fake.

I get back to Earth just by running until I found a familiar setting. The sky is overcast. I lay in the street and try to float, and then decide that the parking lot might work better. There's a guy sitting on a random lifeguard chair flying an odd balloon with a hole in it (the balloon was constantly filled with air by a small fan, propelling it whatever way the guy's remote control commanded). I try to patch the balloon, but it rips the delicate plastic further. He fixes it. I lay back down and look at the sky with my sister, as larger air balloons appear, farther up, perhaps with riders. "Isn't that balloon cool? In my next lucid dream, I should go ballooning."

8:00 AM
Environmental spy (fragment)

I'm playing a claw machine so that I can see if I can get some neat token thingy. -break- I'm going under the alias "Forest Woods" to sabotage an evil corporation leader's wishes to circumvent certain environmental regulations. He catches me, though.

I'll post yesterday's stuff later, maybe.

5:35 AM
Eb

I'm in a fancy craft store, and find that I have absolute tone. I can manipulate my voice just like an instrument, and be right on the money! I sing a high note with perfect precision, and hear a loud CRACK-SHATTER as glass begins to break in the next aisle. I thought the note was Eb. I want to show my little sis, who just happens to be with me (was I buying her sewing materials, perhaps?), but she's talking to a cashier. The cashier is a friend from real life. I'm now anxious, because I don't want her to know that I'm breaking store products! We end up buying a packet of information on some dead famous guy. We don't pay for the bonus info, so it is slightly cheaper. I see it as a waste, anyway, until I go online and suddenly an obscure webcomic about a pig makes much more sense!

8:30 AM
Neighbor's houses

At my neighbor's, I discover an underground tunnel that leads to our local grocery store. A man uses the tunnel to rob the store and the house of the neighbor. The neighbor is aware of the man, but says that if we ignore him, he'll go away. I find him sitting near the tunnel on a recliner, watching TV. I decide to see what he is watching. My vision zooms in on the scene.

It's a Portal movie! There's a male protagonist, along with Chell. He vaguely resembles Freeman. Anyway, he's the one who scribbled stuff on the walls towards the end of the game "Over here ==>." The facility is crumbling, and they need to evacuate. Somehow, "cake" lines turn into innuendo. -break-

I'm at a garage sale, and the owner is selling beautiful budgie mutations. One is bright green with long, puffy tail feathers. I'd like to purchase the purple one, since is is tame and calm like my old (dead) bird... I get distracted, and the bird hops away.

I got lucky this morning by having two lucid dreams, and not being random in them! :0
I'll post the other lucid next.

7:00AM
Big kid school+The Prism Isles:

I'm in the movie U.S. Marshals. Or at least, that's how it starts. We're looking for Sheridan, not in an old folks home, but instead my old high school. So much for gun policy. Anyway, the mission fades from memory when I see one of the kids I taught Spanish to. Isn't she supposed to be in middle school? 5th grade? I don't doubt it too much, because she was an extremely bright, attentive kid! I see more kids... Why? Did they decide to merge junior high and high school into some all-purpose "big kid school?" I wanted to visit my physics teacher before class started, and began levitating up the stairs. People stared and pointed, but I felt as if I did it all the time. I got to my old physics class, and lost even more rational thought, thinking I was tardy. Worse yet, I had no calculator! It was okay, though, because it turned out we were only taking notes...

A noise in real life aroused me from my slumber. I let it slip past, and proceeded to DEILD. I heard a humming sound that increased in frequency, like an old VCR. I could see through my sleep mask, and saw my room in an odd, inverted, shaking outline. I thought this coincidental, because someone posted a similar picture in a thread talking about seeing with closed eyes. I saw my fish tank, and let that solidify before hopping out of bed. I walked around a crystal clear house and looked at myself in a mirror. I looked pretty real, and reality checked. I'M NOT DREAMING?! Preposterous! I was dreaming, but one of my nostrils was plugged. My plan was to frolic in the forest with Elkoon, but as I made my way into the sun room I saw my mom. She was sick, and didn't want me going into the woods, despite the fact that I was dreaming. Not wanting the dream to turn into a stupid power struggle or chase, I went out the front door. But what would I do now?

It was deepest night. Rain was trickling down in prickling droplets, and the orange glow of the streetlights saturated the scene. Combined with the complex shadows, the street looked more like an old detective movie (often using monochrome themes). I decided to summon Mercutio instead of Elkoon, as he is more likely to appear in a suburban setting. I tried looking behind things, but couldn't find him. I traveled around until I reached the graveyard (which isn't that far from my house, actually). Could I summon him there? No, that wouldn't make sense. "I could summon him from a shrine, but not a grave," I thought to myself. The rain was pouring harder, and I was standing in a couple inches of it. I wasn't moving, and instead the scene moved backwards, propelling me forwards into darkness. I didn't want to wake up yet! I wanted to have fun!

I imagined myself riding Mercutio, and suddenly I saw it! In third person, I could see my soaked hair clinging to my body as I clung to the dragon. Easily, I righted myself back in the first person, and the rest of the scene flooded back. We didn't talk at all, but he knew what I wanted: to get out of here. I just wanted to fly, and would go wherever he would take me. The sky was rapidly brightening the farther we flew, but we were only a few feet above the ground (in a previous lucid, he revealed that he likes traveling close to ground because it is exciting). The clouds turned from black to a bright white overcast, and the rain droplets slowed from the endless barrage and into slow, individually visible liquid diamonds. The ground was a clean mirror of water, creating the effect of a topsy-turvy, horizontally symmetrical neighborhood. Mercutio then burst through the overcast sky (the clouds were way closer than I thought) at immense speed. What I saw and heard next puts most other lucid dreams I've had to shame.

We are very high up. Usually, when I'm way above ground, giant versions of stuff pop up around me (in effect, the ground scene respawns itself). But this time, it stayed high up. We were flying slowly now. Slow enough for me to absorb where I was. As I began viewing, I started humming a tune. I stopped humming, and thought the tune instead. The tune returned without effort, fully orchestrated, matching the epic feel of the scene before me.

The sky was a deep sky blue, interrupted by lavender-and-teal-tinted wisps of cloud (but only 40% cloud cover). We were flying below the behemoth-sized ones, and among their children. The sun easily shone through the thin clouds and onto the utopia below. It was a young valley of waterfalls, cragged and covered in a thick green jungle carpet. Even from afar I could see that it was not just a texture covering the cliffs, but an actual tropical forest of trees that would bend and sway with the water and wind! It's most hard to describe the geology of this place. There were at least a dozen mighty cliffs and steep hills scattered on this island. Over each summit was a foggy cloud, and under each cloud was a stream of rain, creating gorgeous distorted rainbows. The lines of color were thin and living and pale yet glowing (so hard to describe!), creating magnificent patterns. The rain is what formed the waterways of this place, which were equally colorful and fluorescent (as in, the radiant type).

I spent only five minutes in this state of euphoria before I awakened due to the sting of a newly-made bug bite.

A foreign exchange student (whom I have not yet met, but eventually will meet) is in town with her family. The nationality switches from Chinese to Mexican. Whenever they are Mexican, I think "Great! I can definitely help them with their English!" but when they are Chinese, I keep thinking, "Drat! I don't know any Chinese! I can't even use cognates now!" I take them to the mall with the aim of seeing a movie. They end up separating, and I'm stuck looking for them in all sorts of odd places. I search in clothes stores, restaurants, and a rock climbing chamber and eventually find them all again. The dream lasted a pretty long time, with much more detail, but it remains in the written journal. The dream broke into a false awakening, where I became lucid. I desperately wanted to return to that blissful place. I summon Mercutio easily enough. Suspiciously easy...

The sky is bright blue, no clouds to be seen, and the sun is shining in suburbia. I tell Mercutio to fly straight up, and he does! But we don't "burst" through anything. We keep ascending until I see giant trees, houses, and roads. Effectively, we are back where we started. I try again shouting "Up!" and like a rocket we zoom into the sky. The scene fades out, but I feel that it's a transition or loading screen, and not an end. We reappear shortly on the moon.

It's cold and gray here, with a feeling of recent abandonment. In the side of a crater is an entrance to a temple... Within, there are high platforms and pillars, and in one of the pillars is an opening. According to Mercutio, something special is within, but to get to it, I must first defeat 3 monsters. The first is a giant blue scorpion. I kick it off the edge of the platform, and it falls 40 feet to the dusty ground below, but isn't dead. I spawn a spear and strike its tail, killing it. The second monster is a doll, ratty-haired and from the 80's. How do I kill a doll? I didn't have to think much, because the third monster came out at around the same time. It was gray, a wolf-like beast. I ended up wrapping the doll hair around the beast, strangling it and rendering the doll immobile. I thought I was done, but another scorpion came out! Had I been tricked? I jumped to another platform, away from the monster.

"You aren't Mercutio, are you?" I said, glaring. "Mercutio" walked past a pillar and became the blond business man I had seen in a prior lucid, grinning. I groaned in annoyance. The pillars morphed into support beams, and the platforms melded into shelving, and I found myself in the basement with my brother. I woke up soon after.
