Good Nights Sleep

DrTechnical:
I have noticed a pattern. It's very clear cut, though I must confess that this pattern was suggested to me.

A while back, I was corresponding w/ one of Tom Yuschak's colleagues, someone in his inner circle. This was long after TY disappeared. Anyway, this person had it on good word that Yuschak was studying the effects of getting good sleep to aid in getting lucid.

Now specifically, I mean good sleep for a night or two, before a lucid attempt. So for example, if I want to lucid dream Fri night/Sat morning, it's important to get a good nights sleep Wed and Thurs evenings.

It sounds like a rather trivial idea, until you think about the effects of sleep deprivation and the mis-ballancing effects it has on neurotransmitters. I suspect TY was probably looking not only at the correlation between neurotransmitter balance on a well rested person, but probably also trying to coerce the brain to that state artificially.

Bottom line. If I get a few bad nights sleep back to back and then try to get lucid anyway, I usually have a poor night, or fail all together. My best nights are ALWAYS coming off 1-2 good nights sleep.

Good point Dr Tech.  A while back after iadr had one of those nights that he was lucid all night long without even trying, as he was in a lucid practically every time he shut his eyes, he was reflecting back trying to figure out what caused it. As he had been fasting on fruit every other day and eating a ton of bananas. he first thought that this is what caused it. Reflecting on it a bit further though, he had been sleeping about 10 hours a night while getting over a soar throat, which may have been the main contributing factor.

Boadicea:
I've been getting too bed far too late the last week or so and my dream recall has decreased dramatically. I had forgotten about the effect of sleep deprivation, and figured I was getting enough, but nope. Thanks for your input, Dr T! I made the same realization earlier today.

johnb:
OK, got to go to sleep now, or will be sleep deprived.

Shellidfl:
That probably is true, but lately for me, I get maybe 2 good nights of sleep, then a night of poor sleep, even without supp use. I try to WILD at 2ish, and have a very difficult time getting back to sleep.  I blame hormones. :sad1:
