I do use glasses, but never tried the eyeglasses RC.  That's a great suggestion!

The nose pinch has been my most used and most successful, though it has failed me a few times.

Hi PJ and everyone,
Thanks! I'm glad I could contribute something useful. Let me know if it works for you. I'm doing this RC every hour or so, and am hoping I perform it in a dream. Since I have NEVER performed a RC in a dream, I am not sure if this would work. I am fairly certain it will because I've personally worn glasses since I was 5 years old, and at times feel like my glasses are a part of my body.
Since I've been trying this reality check I modified it a bit to be a little faster.
What I do is I ask myself if I am dreaming, then I look for something relatively medium to small size (this will of course depend on your correction, I have -5 Diopters) such  a bathroom sign, street sign, freeway sign -when stuck in traffic, or DVD boxes (these are the things I see in my dreams sometimes). I first look at it with the correction so that I could see it clearly, then I tilt my head down and peer through the top of my glasses - so that I don't have to remove them - and view the image when its blurry and indistinguishable and, then finally look through the correction again to see the image clearly. I am hoping this is combining two RC's in one - the correction aspect, as well as the reading aspect (street signs and bathroom signs are especially dynamic in my dreams). If this needs clarification let me know.
Oneironaught realized that this RC could also theoretically be modified to be completed with sunglasses, since he wears them on a regular basis. In addition to that factor, I think the sunglasses RC would probably be similar to the lightswitch RC, since its been said we can't readily modify illumination levels in our dreams (again I can't confirm that since I personally have never had a LD).
Since all of you here have experienced LD and have attempted RC in dreams, please let me know if you have actually successfully become lucid after a glasses RC. I have a good feeling I personally will be successful with this. Hopefully you guys will too.
Thank you,
Chris

Furthermore, regarding glasses RC, is that I also perform it when on the computer, especially when looking at the time on the Windows Task bar (to sort of combine the digital clock RC with the Glasses RC).

Lastly, Has anybody tried the light switch RC? I.E. flipping a light switch on and off I haven't found to much on this one.

Thanks
Chris

Hi Joshbotch,
Do you mean the Lightswitch RC or the Glasses RC?
Thanks

I talked to a friend of mine who had her first lucid after spending an evening here, and what she did was kiss the mexican police officer in her dream. She knew that if she dared to kiss him it was a dream, because she would never dare to in real life  :content:

I'll see if I can get her to make a profile here. She's still very new to this, but I sent her my Mt. Everest dream and she was suddenly interested  ;) So she spent an evening here, reading up on what lucid dreaming is and had a dream within a dream and in the innermost one she got lucid for a couple of seconds, and "woke up" to the outer dream and talked to me about it.

My hands never look distorted in a dream. But why do they appear distorted in others dreams? I've never tried but can this be done with feet, face, etc?

Some things are just different for different people :)

Like for me, my hands can get distorted. Many people, their reflections get all messed up, looking in a mirror. But for me, I always look normal in mirrors.
What would you do if you were dreaming right now?

The only finger I've ever gotten through in a dream is my right pinkey it's also the only one that ever looks weird or distorted, and sometime its just not there.

My standard RC is to see if I can make the crest of the King of Hearts appear on the back of my hand. I like it because it gives me a visual que and I get the sensation of clenching my fist, which is an interesting experience for me, since mo many years of martial arts make it so I can feel the tendons in my hands stretching, which is unmistakable but I notice when it doesn't happen....the only problem is I've only remembered to do it once while dreaming, it worked but every other time I'm too wrapped up in my dream to remember to. if someone else (who isn't a total newb lie me XP) could give it a try, perhaps make a picture of something appear on their hand, and tell me if maybe it's just a bad RC or do I just need practice?
