I just wrote a KNOL!  It is a little primer on Lucid Dreaming - not a comprehensive anything. . . just some general information for folk interested in learning a bit about itl

Here's the link:

I haven't read all of it yet, but from what I can see I give you two thumbs up.

I've only read a few sections of it, but nice job pj, hopefully some more people will come across this.

Thanks for the comments, all!

It is an "open collaboration," meaning that anybody can suggest corrections or changes.  If anybody here wants to get onboard with it, I'll gladly add you as a co-author.

This was written deliberately to be Creative Commons licensed, so I didn't pour too much of myself into it.  I'm adding a section on WBTB today, and linking it in to our front end - though it will continue to live in KNOL land.

Wow PJ! This is pretty great! I haven't had a chance to read all of it yet, but from what I read, you did a really great job.

I did notice one typo, though. Where it says,

Quote
The physiological reality of Lucid Dreaming has been scientifically proved by Dr. Stephen LaBerge and confirmed by others.

I believe it should be proven.

Well thank you!

Yeah - 'proven' might be good English, but it is also kind of stodgey.

How about if we change it to just 'proved'?  . . . proved by Dr. Stephen LaBerge and confirmed by other scientists.

That reads nicely.  What do you think?

That's really good, like everything you write.  Concise, but gets the idea across--a great introduction.

And I learned something--I didn't know those percentages of recall that we lose--sounds about right to me, unfortunately.

"As a past participle proven is now about as frequent as proved in all contexts. As an attributive adjective <proved or proven gas reserves> proven is much more common than proved."

I think either is OK.

Thank you, and thank you for looking up the participle usage.  It is a stylistic choice - which it was in the first place, really.  It was awkward though, which is probably why it caught Hazel's keen eye.

It's better now, I think.

Ah, those participles always get me. I like the way you have it now, though.

Searching within the knol, the "Tourist's Guide" comes up second now in searches on both "Lucid Dream" and "Lucid Dreaming".

Just want to mention that little Knol is now sitting in the top spot for Knol searches of Lucid Dreaming and second for Lucid Dream.
