Why enter the Mist?
Our community is dedicated to exploring and promoting the art of Lucid Dreaming, the amazing human capability of becoming conscious in our dreams and enjoying experiences limited only by our creativity and skill.
Mortal Mist's intense focus on the art and discipline of Lucid Dreaming, level of experience of our members, unparalleled data gathering capabilities, workshops and member ownership combine to make us unique among the resources available to both aspiring and experienced oneironauts.
We are a highly focused community, with most of our activity concentrated around dream journals. Our journaling system is unique in offering statistical data gathering capabilities, tagging and integrated sketching. Three journaling forums are available, giving the choice between public accessibility with search engine indexing or private member's only access. A forum for Awake Journals offers a member's only access location to record "real life" events that may influence our dreams, recall and ability to get lucid.
Our goal is not to be the biggest or highest profile lucid dreaming community on the 'net, but rather to offer a home to an intimate group who share a serious interest in exploring the amazing human capacity of Lucid Dreaming.
Community
Mortal Mist is owned and run by its members. As the larger forums expand and struggle to maintain focus, we strive to build and maintain a friendly, intimate community intensely focused on Lucid Dreaming. We aspire to be the highest quality Lucid Dreaming collaboration, not the biggest or most visible. At the bottom of this and every page is a simple and sincere copyright notice declaring that the contents are owned by the community. Member-owners are never limited in their ability to edit and delete their own posts or lock their threads. We are not here to build something for eventual sale or use in advertising, so you can rest comfortably in the knowledge that your contributions here will not be exploited at some later date in ways you do not expect or approve.
We come from all walks of life; students, artists, musicians, doctors and engineers are among those who meet here to discover and explore the infinite possibility and freedom of Lucid Dreaming. We are an international community with dreamers from nations all around the globe, of experience levels from beginner to those who enjoy many Lucid Dreams each night.
We have no moderators or elaborate set of rules. Our community is self-governing, as our member-owners all share a stake in the quality of the results. Here in The Mist, your influence is determined by participation and enthusiasm, not by position in a hierarchy.
The Dream Catcher is a unique data gathering system for dream journals. The system is custom designed, proprietary to the Mortal Mist community and under continuous development. Gathered data can be displayed in formatted, customizable graphs and tables or downloaded for more involved analysis. You may be able to discover trends in your personal dream journey or in the collective database of the entire Mortal Mist community. The Dream Catcher system provides the ability to immediately see all the dreams journaled for the current day, and provides an entertaining feature we call "Dream Roulette." Inside the forums you will find topics covering all aspects of lucid dreaming, from tried and true techniques and information for beginners to controversial subjects such as supplement use, shared dreaming and Out Of Body experiences. We are an inclusive, open community, respecting the thoughts, beliefs and directions of exploration of all our members. While many of our forums are open to be viewed by unregistered guests, we offer the option of a Members Only forum for dream journaling and allow access to the controversial forums only to those who choose to register.
From time to time we run Workshops, teaching everything from the basics of getting into lucid dreaming to advanced techniques. Workshops are archived, so they may be worked through and explored at any time.
We have some of the most advanced oneironauts anywhere on the planet among our members, freely sharing their knowledge and experience.
