Your Most Recent Concert?
« on: January 09, 2020, 11:36:44 PM »
Got the idea for this topic from a post I just wrote about in the 'What song are you listening to' thread, where I wrote about the last concert I attended.

For those of us who crave and love and lust after live music, tell us about the last concert you attended. Could be a school recital, a band at a bar, a live concert broadcast in a theater, or a big name show in a major stadium... if it was live music let us know all about it.

The last concert I attended was Star Wars in Concert: The Empire Strikes Back. A theater packed full of SW fans, a perfectly timed orchestra, and a giant screen shining SW straight into our souls at full force (pun intended), was the best Star Wars experience I've had yet.

Cool video. That would be fun. I didn't know they ever did that until you mentioned it.  The last concert I saw was an outdoor Metallica concert at Float Rite Park in Wisconsin sometime in the 90's. I knew it was probably going to be the last concert I went to and the last time I would see Metallica. I was thankful they played so many of their songs from Ride The Lightning and Master Of Puppets.

I saw Metallica a few years ago. Even though I was in the highest of the highest nose bleed seats, it was one of the greatest experiences of my life. The energy in that stadium was wicked. I was dying to hear Welcome Home but they didn't even play it. They DID NOT play it. That would be my only complaint about that night. Well no, another complaint would be the insanely expensive beer.

I very recently attended a symphony orchestra presentation of Mozart's Requiem. It captivated my mind and brought tears to my eyes. I was a teenager when I first heart the requiem, I'd borrowed it from the public library on disc to listen to. I wasn't even sure what to expect. I heard it and my entire being was possessed by the sounds that it experienced. I vowed to myself that one day I would see the Requiem performed live. And I finally did it all these years later. It felt so good to make a dream come true.

I watched a live Gorillaz concert broadcast last month. They did a couple of variations on songs and I couldn't figure out if I liked them or not. Will be looking for another live concert to watch soon.
