Dream Types
« on: December 21, 2008, 06:27:29 PM »
There are three main types of dreams in Dream Yoga.

Karmic/Ordinary dreams: These are the ones that basically mimic the actions of your daily life. Any thoughts, worries, problems, happenings, ect. are jumbled together in the dream. Sometimes, they Yogis believe, you even have issues from previous lives pop up in these dreams.

The exercise for sweeping out daily thoughts is meant to help minimize these dreams so you can make way for more vivid dreams.

Clear Light dreams: Although these are not lucid, they're usually the dreams that stick out in your mind as being important, vivid and spiritual. The Yogis considered these openings of energy centers, blessings from spirits/gods, or visions.

Lucid dreams: Hopefully everyone already knows what they are by now.  :content:

Within these three are six more sub-types:

• Dreams of everyday thoughts and happenings from the previous day(s)
• Dreams about other people
• Parts of the subconscious making themselves known
• Symbolic dreams, think Freud/Jungian Archetypes
• Dreams of the future, visions and the like
• Vivid, spiritual dreams

How many of each dream type have you had each night? Which dreams are the most common for you? The least common?

I suppose the majority of my dreams are ordinary karmic dreams.  Probably about a third of my dream are clear light dreams.  But those ones are the hardest to describe.
Some people are like a Slinky - Not really much good for anything, but they do bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.

I can trace all my dreams back to waking happenings/thoughts.  Even dreams that have a great spiritual impact on me or ones that can be interpreted as predicting the future.  Although few of my dreams actually mimic my daily life.  I'm more likely to be an animal that go to work.  But that doesn't mean that I don't see my waking thoughts in even my most bizarre dreams.  What do I categorize my dreams as?

Mine are mostly Karmic/ Ordinary dreams that feature people/places/things/situations from the day. I believe I have many symbolic dreams but I'm not into deciphering them unless the meanings jump out at me right away.

I would like more light and lucid dreams though. It's kind of frustrating to have so few meaningful and lucid dreams compared to my ordinary dream count.
