As a therapist I used my ability to reach out into others to see/feel what they were experiencing and get their answers from them for them.  This same reaching out and searching is very similar to how I reach out in those "outer" realms to travel to places (LD/OBE) that are remembered by others in this reality or are able to be validated.

your a therapist??  no wonder you always seem to find some deeper meaning in peoples dreams when you comment on them.  now i guess i know why.

Cool stuff, I'm studying developmental psychology in college, and I just watched a short clip on dreaming in childhood (not as scientific as I would have liked because I think it's aimed at kiddos, but it was interesting anyway - http://wimp.com/investigatingdreams/). I'm surprised I didn't notice this board earlier!
