Lucid Buddha's Workbook
« on: June 02, 2009, 05:33:38 AM »
Current Recall: Actively 5-7 Passively 1-2

Hours of Sleep: 7-9 consistently

Awake by: 1/2 Alarm 1/2 Naturally (depending on bedtime)

Type of Sleeper: Not really sure - sometimes light, sometimes heavy. Depends on how tired I am I think.

GOAL: My goal is not exactly to increase dream recall. Instead - how to maintain dream recording without it consuming your life. 5-7 dreams a night take roughly an hour to record. I'm wondering if I should remain passive and record ones I remember naturally or remember as many as possible and then pick and choose which ones to 'keep'.

So the first night I seem to have remembered 2 dreams - 1 before WBTB and 1 after. On the note of lucidity, I did a WBTB and felt that I was lucid but all I remember is saying "This is a dream" which is also a mantra I use so it's hard to tell.

So, night 1 = 2 dreams

So I did a very pathetic WBTB - woke for maybe 5 minutes and decided I was too tired to stay up - BUT...did get lucid.

As far as recall goes - I thought I remembered 3 dreams but as I began to write them down I realized they were all parts of the same dream.

*Regrets - did not perform any RC - simply 'knew' I was dreaming and began to fly around. Check my DJ for details.

Night 2 = 1 dream 1/2 lucid.

Why would you regret this? I would think that being able to recognize a dream would be a step up from having to perform a reality check.

Well, I think simply 'knowing' that I'm dreaming still puts me in a somewhat consciously unconscious state - if that makes any sense. It's like I'm so used to the lucid dreaming state that I automatically go fly around instead of taking a moment to let it sink in - and gain awareness. I've noticed that RC's have the ability to ensure awareness.

Went out with some friends last night so...

I hate the automatic lucidity! I've yet to catch myself and correct that.

Night 4 = 3 fragments.

All remembered dreams last night revolved around disc golf. I've been playing quite a bit. :)

Also, another WBTB that was at least 45minutes of wake time - no lucidity! This time last year I was guaranteed a lucid for any WBTB - what's wrong with me??

I'll be increasing my WBTB time to 1.5 hours. Wish me luck!

Night 5 = 0 dreams - went out that night.

Night 6 = 6 recalled! One of which was Lucid!

I really had a hard time sleeping last night - although I was extremely tired. I went to bed at 9:30pm just to lie there until 2:30am before falling asleep - still got a good night's worth of dreams though!

Wow, it literally only took me 7 days to get back to 7 dreams recalled for one night of sleep! I should also note I've had 2 lucids in the last week! That was like lazy slacker to great recall very quickly.

However, in the past it seemed way more natural to wake up after every dream. I still find it more of a struggle and I feel like many of my recalled dreams are missing lots of details and pieces. So, always room for improvement. Also - I like the MM Dreamscape challenge and will be completing it soon enough.  ;-D

So, Night 7= 7 dreams recalled! Great Workshop!

Night 8 = 2 Dreams

I got up really early and did a long WBTB (2 hours or so). So, 1 dream before and 1 dream after. I know there was at least 3 cycles before my WBTB and it felt like I could get little tiny pieces that if I held onto longer would trigger more of the dream - but alas, lost to the void.

So, new goal - consistency!  :goodjob:
