I'm of the opposite opinion.
I think that the withdrawal doesn't matter. What does matter is that you go to sleep with caffeine in your system, without being completely tolerant to it. But the headache does set up a natural WBTB, during which time you can take the caffeine. Of course, I don't really know . . .
Hello, I attempted to take a caffeine pill today (100mg) in the middle of day to LD. I haven't used caffeine for at least 8 months, so I do not have any tolerance built up. Although, I figure I should give it a shot as a LD aid. Last night I had another bout of insomnia (I slept 4 hours, then woke up on my own and could not go back to sleep), so I was very tired and sleepy by mid-day today. I took the pill, attempted to WILD unsuccessfully, then I fell asleep for about and hour, and woke up with no dream recall and could not go back to sleep. However, I do feel that I would be able to have a vivid dream, or hopefully my first lucid dream if I attempt this again. In undergrad, I had the habit of drinking a Redbull before a nap in the mid evening (when I was already exhausted from lectures) so that I could sleep for a short amount of time and wake up naturally an hour or so later to study. I remember having very vivid dreams on occasion. Today I was simply knocked out cold - probably because of 8 consecutive nights of insomnia. But at least now I feel wide awake and ready to study.
Thank you all for posting your experiences.
I will post my experience when I reattempt this in a few days.
