Sean999's Workbook
« on: December 28, 2009, 08:47:05 AM »
I'm gonna jump on the workbook bandwagon here. It is much easier for one to stay committed to something one has written down. :P I'm actually in the middle of a WBTB right now, so I it's a good chance for me to autosuggest anyway.

Here's to many lucids to come!

Getting Started
« Reply #1 on: December 28, 2009, 08:52:03 AM »
I haven't been lucid in a while, so that will have to be my number one priority.

1. Get lucid.

Once that is taken care of, I'll have two clear-cut and simple goals.

1. If outside, look for dream guide.

2. If inside, brainstorm or create some music.

WBTB Ritual

I don't like staying up too long. 30 minutes is about it for me.

1. Wake up.
2. RC.
3. Remember dreams, if any.
4. Go on computer.
5. Visit MM.
6. Maybe listen to a lucid MP3.
7. Autosuggest and RC all the while.
8. Go back to bed.
9. Reaffirm lucid goals.
10. Autosuggest while drifting off to sleep.

Don't want to get too fancy.

Something interesting happened last night after my WBTB.

I was having an explicit dream, and I at one point I could feel myself waking up. That's when I thought very hard: If this is happening, then this must be a dream... I used all my mental might to bring the dream back, and it worked, but I didn't become lucid. I think the dream ended soon after.

That's a big step for me. It's been so long since I last was lucid, so I am happy with what happened. Technically speaking, I WAS lucid last night. Tonight will prove even more successful!  :D

sounds like you were definately semi-lucid. That's progress  :)

Goal Visualization
« Reply #5 on: December 29, 2009, 03:11:14 AM »
Thanks for the encouragement, Dr. T!  :D

For my indoor task, I'm indecisive on my location. Do I visualize my bedroom, or a completely new room repurposed for my task? All I need are my guitars and my piano. Maybe I'll visualize an empty room with just those in it, and a door in case I want to leave. Actually, that would be kind of bland, so maybe I'll just do my room after all. :P Need some sensory input for inspiration, after all.

For my outdoor task, I'll visualize my school field. I tend to be with people I know in my dreams, so I'll visualize my friends and I playing a sport or something. Then I'll become lucid and initiate my task!

it's whatever you think is going to work for YOU.

In a lesson or two, you will see how I use real life objects to influence dream content. Stay tuned for another day or so. But in short, if I were you, I would try for my real life room if possible,

Hmmph! Last night was not as successful. My mind was preoccupied with something totally unrelated, and despite my efforts to shift my attention to lucid dreaming, my dreams were still influenced. I tried to tell myself that I would RC the next time I dreamt about said thing, but that didn't work either.

Hopefully I won't be so malleable tonight!  :?

BTW Sean999, I will summarize some thoughts at the end of the workshop. But the upshot ... is be patient.

I'm throwing a lot of material at people during these 6 lessons. It's stuff I've slowly master over a considerable length of time. Be patient. Concentrate on one or two ideas at a time. This won't happen over night. But if you're persistent, you will make progress I can assure you.

Haha, thanks Dr. T. Sometimes I get a little overzealous and forget that patience is key.

Haven't had anything too successful yet. Though, I've woken up a couple of times wondering whether I was lucid in a previous dream or not. I don't know whether it's just me being hopeful or whether I was actually lucid.

In any case, I am making progress. I'm finally starting to WBTB regularly again, that will definitely help. All I could think about last night was Avatar, so I incorporated that into my visualizations. I did dream about Avatar, but nothing too epic. Just stuff about the balance of life and my sleep schedule or something, haha.

However, I do need to formulate a WBTB ritual of some sort. What I've been doing is browsing MM, thinking about my tasks, and listening to lucid MP3's, but I'm at a loss as to what else I should do. If there's someone in chat, I usually talk to them. I've toyed with the idea of actually drawing what I want to do on paper; it would let me practise my art and lucid dreaming skills. :) I don't like eating in the middle of night, or drinking anything other than water. And I don't take supplements. Anybody have any ideas as to what I could do? Because half the time my mind drifts away from LD'ing.

I like the idea about drawing out what you hope to do. That's a good one.

I simply think it's important to create an association of your ritual, to LD time. That's all we're really trying to accomplish here. If you do the same repetitive pattern over and over, your subconscious will begin to associate these rituals with LDing. It's that simple.

As for me, other than leaving out some items, etc ... I usually put on Late NIght w/ Jimmy Fallen (the 3:00 am replay).

Sounds good, I'll keep at it then. Maybe I'll do some drawing tonight.
