The original [nova dreamer] dream mask puts all other copy's of dream masks to shame...
The purpose of nova dreamer is for the dreamer to notice many [flashing lights within the dream].or the dream scene suddenly goes from dark to bright daytime...or lights in a room wont shut off ...or lights in the whole house start flashing..and many other strange changes in the dream that are supposed to cue the dreamer that he should do .[RC]..or he may realize he is dreaming and becomes lucid...
The original nova dreamer mask is a way to give the dreamer an .[external cue].. in the dream ..to notice and become lucid...
Its intention was to make lucid dreaming  easier for more people to  learn..
Also the original nova dreamer  wasn't just thrown together in a couple of months research..
The lucidity institute spent years in dream research developing this device...
Since then they have promised for the last  5 or 6 years that the new nova dreamer  would be available.. but in my opinion the new nova dreamer probably isn't that much better than the original one except for a better comfort level..
During the  time it took to  develop the nova dreamer the lucidity institute was also doing dream research with hundreds of subjects over the months and years..
These people were  testing ..[[all kinds]].. of lucid dream  methods and some of the exercises I  talked about in above post are certainly listed in the nova dreamer owners book..
You can find copy's of this manual on line and it will talk about the exercises I spoke of in above post...
If you believe [AASB] is different.. maybe it is to some degree..  but I still  see   a repeat of some past ideas...
Even the new [SSILD] method from.. [lucidity for all] .. I put on the MM forum is also very much like other past methods but still a little different in its own way..
Ive been with mortal mist for about 4 years and was 6 or 7 years on lucidity institute talk forum and its hard to come up with brand new ideas    on lucid dreaming ..
Your AASB method is a good one !..and I'm not knocking it one bit... but  i see some small similarities..

Please don't take my opinions the wrong way they are just my opinions...

cheers...Tom  ..

No time to read all the comments Tom. Maybe it was pointed out.

The main diff I think, is that for example - I am rarely seeing red flashing lights in waking reality. Certainly not enough to get into the habit of doing RC's when I do. Maybe I see red flashing lights once per week?

But for example, I am passing through doors all day long. I'm hitting the restroom all day long. Etc ...   I think the notion of creating a RC habit in association with some very common action is the key here.

Its got a lot more too it than is discussed currently. It seems simplistic on the outside but when you know how to use it and discover that its only a starting point to what you gain by practicing it. I have explained to some people that it also has aspect changing properties, where it can be used to cause any scenario or desired effect to appear in your dream, and on the other side it can be used as a psychological tool that can permeate understanding from your dreams into waking reality. Think about how many times something made perfect sense when you were asleep and when you woke you did not understand it anymore. Its a good ride if you can focus on it and stick it through until the end.

If you can work with it and don't give up, after a few months your brain will find it so easy to reality check you don't even need to do it physically. You will just twig it whether you are awake or not, I believe that after a few months / year or whatever your brain will actually change shape / neurogenesis. I think at this point is where you don't even have to do any exercise or think about it consciously, it will have got so ingrained that you will be lucid in your dreams most of the time through pure conscious reflex. This is where the beauty of this comes in if your able to keep with it..
