ive died before in my dreams but it only hurts if i know where ive been hit

So, what happened after you died? Did it wake you up? Or did you transition into another dream scene?

And the petals all unfold

Of course, I'm not disagreeing with you, but, I would just have a hard time doing it either way :P

I never have actually tried it. Maybe I'd chicken out at the last minute.
You should try it and tell us what happens :D

OK, I will! But it may take awhile. I'm not very good at remembering my LD goals while lucid. I'll change my MM signature to add that goal.
Maybe try repeating to yourself before sleeping, "I will remember my lucid goals or something like that" :)

Yes, I should be more disciplined about doing that sort of thing.

it just feels really painful/uncomfortable (like falling several hundred meters just really hurts when you hit the ground!)

really? i have NEVER experienced that are you sure? i thought pain doesn't exist in the dream world? Fear and awkwardness yes but pain? hmm

Good question. Can't recall ever experiencing actual physical pain in a dream. Don't know if it's possible.

no i really doubt it i was lucid last night (well done me) and i decided to drive my moms car as theres no consequences.. my DC next to me in the car was really annoying so i crashed it on purpose i know there are more productive things to do when lucid but this is only my 7th or 8th time ever and im still experimenting with what i can and cant do. anyway to get to the point i crashed the car knowing nothing will happen its just a dream and the car kind of broke in half i must have been going at least 40 and i didnt feel any pain in the crash neither did it wake me up. i was still lucid after the crash i told me DC see told you its a dream. then i just started flying :D but yeah no pain

That gives me an idea...a wonderful, terrible idea...:plotting:

Guess what it is.   :D

Great idea, in a sick kind of way.  :voodoodoll:

But, seriously, it's worth a try. In the interests of science.

This is from my DJ.
DREAM
This is a really weird one.
Im in an underwater observation lab. Im with a diving team. We go out. I make my way to a trench. I find a giant limpet. I pull it off a rock and show the other divers...As im leaving someone shoots a hole in my transport and I drown.....
Im outside Baden Elementry. Kids are outside. I walk into the library to use the computer. I notice a memorial with some pics of me. Now im really scared. I seriosly thought I died. I decided at first to go home. And see my family...Im at home I walk through the front door. The baby can still see me which is starting to make me think that Im alive. I also have an unusually strong heart beat. I play with her for a little while then I think of what I have to do. First I have to delete my FB account and tell someone at MM whats happening they might believe me...The next thing I remember is a guy with rasta dreads telling a story and then I appear in it. I walk down a path where people are running away from.theres a cave blocked by a boulder a few heads are looking out. "Me: Let me in Im dead!"...I walk through the boulder. Theres an arena. I go inside...
"God put me on earth to do a certain amount of things, right now Im so far behind that I'll never die."

"You don't have to out run the bear, just you hunting partner."

"This cup of coffee taste like battery acid thats been pissed on and cursed at for several hours."

That is pretty weird. Don't think I've ever actually thought I've been dead in a dream. At least I don't recall it. Guess your experience refutes the old UL that says if you ever die in a dream it will cause you to die IWL. :chuckle:

(Here's a lucid we had last night where we did something that would have killed us IRL, but had no effect on us in the dream).

Being Challenged By This Guy To Shoot Our Self In The Face During A Dream - Shooting Our Self In The Face (DILD)
Being somewhere with these people where this guy is explaining to us that since we're dreaming we can't be hurt, which guy asks us to prove to ourselves that we can't be hurt by shooting our self in the face with this gun.

Becoming lucid and realizing that we can't be hurt since we're dreaming, so shooting our self in the face with the gun, after which we feel nothing except for this puff of air coming toward our face when we fire the gun. Feeling elated knowing that we can't be hurt in our dreams.

i havent killed myself in a lucid yet but in my last lucid i done something that would definitly kill me in real life. i crashed my car on purpose to prove to a DC that it is my dream and i can do what i like.. i didnt feel pain at all or discomfort i just got out of the car and started walking nothing happened.. the car was totalled though.. but then i wished it away and it dissapeared

so yeah doubt theres any real consequences of killing yourself maybe you will just wake up right before you 'die'

because of this thread I had a false memory in my dream in which I believed killing myself was one of my dream goals. Here's what happened....

http://mortalmist.com/forum/index.php?topic=3948.msg120378#msg120378

Quote
Once I decided I needed to wake myself up immediately I decided to do it in a way that would complete a task. Thinking hard I remember someone saying that killing yourself is a sure way to wake yourself up. Though I did not like the idea very much I thought "when will I ever want to wake myself up again? Though it made my stomach queasy I asked some of the campers around if they had a knife I could borrow. Two guys immediately offered blades, I picked the one from the camper in a Mohawk because his blade was black (harder to see the blood) and because the tip, instead of tapering down to a normal point, looked like the blade of a box cutter and in which the furthest point of the knife made a 90 degree angle, the edge tapering backwards.

I slit my wrist across, feeling the slicing pain, a numbness and weakness in my hand and fingers and the almost burning heat of blood running down my forearm and off my elbow. I felt disgusted with what I was doing, but not afraid. The DC's around me freaked out, most running away, except for the mohawk kid, he said "sweet!" and one in the background in the most cliche overly dramatic way "But you have SO MUCH to LIVE FOR!!!" I then remembered that you are supposed to cut down along your tendons and not across, so I cut myself again, the blood suddenly gushing much more profusely. The dream started to blur, and suddenly went helter-skelter it took me a moment to realize I had fallen over. I looked at the "X" on my wrist, and tried to move my fingers and couldn't, when suddenly grass started growing over my arm and hand as it seemed to sink into the dirt. I realized I was floating up above my body, and watched as the whole corpse sank into the dirt and was covered in grass while the dream faded completely and I woke up in bed.

I should mention it was a false awakening
Sol rests her head on her great celestial pillow, and I rise from my sun-soaked slumber to claim the night.

I've never purposely killed myself in any of my dreams... But I have died in them before. Generally, I wake back up. The last one I had with me dying was about a month ago. Basically, the world was ending and I got thrown into a pole by massive winds and broke my skull. It felt almost real to, I can even recall blood coming from my mouth.

I don't think I'll try it in a LD because since I watch Horror movies it could end up really bad.
