Just in case. (I may be mis-interpreting the written word or being too literal.)
One thing I would ask of everyone, please do not think of your sub\supra-conscious as separate from you.

"my subconscious is telling me"
"your subconscious trying to make you aware"
"your subconscious and how you communicate with it"

So our subconscious is obviously a part of us.

Well people always say our dreams our how the subconscious communicates with us.

This confuses me, what would be a better way to phrase that, or describe dreaming?

thats a good reminder, Jomid, and a very good question DB . (please share the stars)   :3s: :4s: :3s:

there could potentially be a lot to discuss here.
I try keep in mind that language is an inherently limited tool we are using to communicate experiences and ideas.
So I can say something like "my subconscious was showing me this or that" while still being aware that my subconscious is in fact "me" and "I" am my subconscious. (and we could even go further and and further until we're breaking down the words themselves ( "subconscious", conscious"  ,  "I" , "other" )

So are there clearer, more useful words to describe the act of dreaming?
I think there must be, simply because many of the deeper discussions here seem to get tripped up in language at least a little.

(also, if we're really trying to look deeply into dreams in our own way, shouldn't our own language naturally develop?)

Anyhow, I think I will marinate on this for a while and come back. Consensus may be difficult,  but I will try to at least figure it out personally.  How would I describe dreaming?  What words would sounds better to me?"

I'd love to hear other peoples ideas on this as well.

I gave it some thought but i pretty much got nothing.  I try to put it into words but they come out very vague as I mostly don't understand dreams and I'm afraid of saying too much.

I think dreams are experiences where every part of my of which I am not conscious interacts with the conscious parts.  Just like waking life, but in dreams, the non - conscious elements express themselves in imagery, characters, sounds and feelings, as oppossed to when I wake up, when their expression becomes basically limited to thoughts and feelings.
i think every moment in both states contains the whole self, with opportunities to dig around and gain insight. (with the "whole self" nonseperate and connected with everything else......)
..... or something.  In over my head here...  thats all I got

Very nice. I really like the thought of dreaming being the visual representation of our whole selves through
various people, sounds, situations while our waking life is limited to thoughts and feelings. I never thought
of it as separate from me it is just easier to view it as sort of a different thing.
