Dream meaning, losing teeth?
« on: November 06, 2013, 11:36:41 PM »
So my only reoccurring dream is one I have maybe once or twice a month. I dream that I lose one of my teeth. The tooth changes from time to time, but there's never blood nor pain. Anyone have similar dreams or know what it could mean. Pretty sure my dental health is decent.

I agree with MB - I have them on occasion, and I know Vexxie does as well.

The tooth fairy and the Sandman are cohorts?   :punched:

I also think this is possibly one of the most common dreams that stand out to people I've talked to. One that seems to be very widely experienced.
I can't imagine that everyone is so worried about their teeth. Sure, we worry from time to time but we worry about a lot of thing as much and more than our teeth. So if that were the case, then what would that be suggesting?
I'll see it when I believe it.

Can't recall ever having a dream about losing a tooth, though I probably have. I often have dreams about losing things. I think that's very common. Last night I dreamed I lost my shoes. Used to have dreams about losing my contact lenses and glasses. They went away after I had Lasik surgery.

No one knows what any dream actually means. It's fun to speculate, though. Dreams of losing teeth could be a way for your SC to remind you to brush and floss more often. Or it could reflect a fear of aging or death.

BTW, the new electric toothbrushes are great. I'm getting much less plaque buildup now that I'm using one. Maybe your dream is telling you to get one of those.

In the beginning nothing comes
In the middle nothing stays
In the end nothing goes

I used to have dreams about loosing my teeth allll the time. One time I was at the dentist and he said he could see I was grinding my teeth. Suddenly I had a memory of my teeth dreams and told him about it. He didn't seem interested in the dream, but it could be a possible reason for the dream. Most people grind their teeth during sleep, especially when they are stressed. So maybe that is one reason why.

My grandmother used to tell me that losing teeth in dreams meant you were dealing with a deep seated waking insecurity, specifically that you felt like you didn't fit in somewhere.

-  I'd like to throw my name into the dreamtooth losing hat - if there's a dream hair loss hat I'm in that one too.  - few times a month at least.

I've heard they're stress related. who knows. I also sure can't personally refute Rebel's idea (oh by the way - Rebel Seven!!!  -  :campfire:

So there you go, stressed out of place guy reporting for duty...

My own thought has been that these dream themes could come from the fact that we occupy temporary, organic bodies bound for aging, breakdown and decay, and have a tendency to avoid confronting this situation consciously.

For the record, I have some bad ass enamel - zero flossing, minimal brushing, and 35 years with zero cavities, - so no kind of literal interpretation seems to hold water for me.

Hi Moonbeam!!!

I had no idea that was a thing.  Still a veritable information geyser I see.  Our families should get together and breed a generation of super toothed children, who will no doubt be the sole survivors of the coming apocalypse, despite their being half blind (my side.. sorry)

Lately I've been losing my shoes in dreams, for some reason. Have other people had that happen much?

Losing teeth in dreams happens to me often enough that I can get lucid by it sometimes. It could mean so many things, anything from your body throwing you an hint that you need dental care to the most common interpretation I've read which is fear of  'losing face'... losing status, respectability or some aspect of the self you work hard to uphold to the rest of the world. The grinding teeth makes complete sense as well for those who grind their teeth during sleep.

One would have to look at the circumstances in dream in which the teeth fell out. That would be the key to figuring out a meaning.

Have to add, an interesting and fairly recent development in my teeth losing dreams is that I'm not worried about losing them anymore. It's more of an annoyance than anything. I know new, better teeth will soon grow in. An interesting development in a dream theme that has followed me for much of my life.
