Forum System How-Tos
« on: April 08, 2008, 12:06:26 AM »
I thought it would be nice to add a sticky that shows members around the new forum and how to use some of its features.  It is a bit different than DV.

First thing to tell about:

How to Multiquote

Click on reply.

Then on the posting screen, look down below the text entry to "Topic Summary".  Several recent posts will be listed.  To the right of each it says "insert quote".  Click on that to multi-quote.

Quick Access to Account Settings

Click on "Quick Links" -> "Account Settings"

Can't think of anything else right now.

Thanks for the multi-quote help, Raklet! I've been trying to figure that out for days now!

To get normal smilies:

- Go to your Profile > Look and Layout Preferences.

- Just under the your Current Theme option should be the Smiley Set option.

- Set the option to "Classic", and you should see the smilies you are more used to seeing.

Show the threads you have been in from most recent to oldest.

This is not an option in user profile.  There might be some confusion by the "Look and Layout Preferences" -> "Show most recent posts at the top." option, but this just ensures that all threads are ordered by date from newest to oldest rather than oldest to newest.

There is, however, a workaround.  Go to your profile view.  At the bottom under "Additional Information" it will say "Show the last posts of this person."  Click on that link.  It will show all of your posts ordered from most recent to oldest.  Bookmark this page in your favorites.  Whenever you want to get to this view, just click on the bookmark.

There is no easy way to do that yet, as far as bringing your old dreams in.  The only option available right now is to bring them in one entry at a time and enter the data with the entries.  If you try to enter a cumulative total it will skew the data, because we track it by date.  I have an idea about how to create a table-entry for bringing in old data, but we haven't even begun to program that yet.

The statistics package is very new right now - we just got it up and running and are a long way from being done with it!

D-L-F System

Using the D-L-F Statistics System

D-L-F stands for Dreams, Lucids and Fragments.  It is the very first phase in a developing system to gather statistics on dreaming and make them available for analysis and comparison.

The system as it stands right now is very simple to use; just enter the count for each type of dream in the boxes provided for entry in the Dream Journal forums.  Count each dream only in one category, whichever fits it best.

The date section is provided for those back-entering dreams after being away for a while or who are bringing in old data.

If you choose to move an old dream journal in here, please note that in order for the statistics to be useful the journal entries must by added here one date at a time.  We currently have no provision for mass entries that will properly correlate the dates.  If you do a single dated entry with a year's worth of dreaming data, the results will be skewed and useless for many types of analysis because they won't have date information.

You can see your own and the communities stats in your profile.

Sorry - not sure I understand what you are trying to do.  Can you post the link or provide more info on reproducing the error?

How do I change the text below my name?
I want to change the text on the first line below my name, but I'd be curious to know about changing the other ones too if possible.
Also, what does "orglvi" mean?
-Oh, no, no. I was just wondering if you could help me find my way.
-Well that depends on where you want to get to.
-Oh, it really doesn't matter, as long as...
-Then it really doesn't matter which way you go.

Profile > Forum Profile Information

Look for the Custom Title field and fill it in.

The other thing is bits and pieces of Oneirologically Evolving.  It is the current system title scheme.  If you can think up something better, please let us know!  We need five titles - one for each of the post count levels.

wow this is an old thread but,

How can we download our Dream Journal in 2017?
I've searched everywhere on this forum for answers including FAQ.

I recently opened mortal mist and on that day it must have been down. I'd thought it was the end of mortal mist and my unsaved journal forever.
I'm glad MM is still running, and would love to back up my journal to my PC just in case. If that's a possibility.
