That is an amazing set of definitions, Benedicta.  I think I've experienced #3 once in my life that I am aware of, and it was during a sleep phase when it is normally presumed we don't dream - just after I fell asleep.

Your choice on mostly letting your dreams play out is in line with Dr. LaBerge's advice.

My #3 experiences are mostly starting in a #1. But sometimes it may start into a non-lucid dream as well and as soon as it starts, i immediately realize i am dreaming.

When i first discovered that i could control my dreams, i played a lot. Made my hair longer, created trees, buildings, even people. It was fun in the beginning but then it became boring.

Who is Dr. LaBerge?

Who is Dr. LaBerge?

Stephen LaBerge, the man who brought lucid dreaming to the mainstream with his book, "Exploring The World Of Lucid Dreaming" - EWOLD.

I like you Benedicta - you are very natural and unspoilt by any non-naturals thinking about lucid dreams.

I never thought about not trying to control a lucid!  I will give it a try next time :D I like the idea of seeing where it takes me :goodjob:

You just have to believe in yourself, stop questioning, and flow.
Pj, I dont have any idea how you calculate the level of the lucidness, but i usually dont choose to control my dreams much as well. Cause when you manipulate the natural flow, you sometimes block the things you are supposed to learn.
I wonder if the secret is just enjoying and letting go...

Hey Benedicta- don't sweat it. I am a natural too. I remember still dreams I had of past lives when I was younger than a year old. astral projections, lucid dreams, having dreams with someone from waking & on waking found they shared the same dream, and of course lucid dreams. I tend to research dreams by the& ancient texts, a lot of people here at Mortal Mist like to take the academic approach, which include techniques of theory & funny names that sound important.

Though academia can offer great insights, one of the best reference books I ever read was  - Creative Dreaming  -by Patricia Garfield Phd. Generally the sense is one not unlike high school cliques. You know, the most popular clique of the day etc.

However, PJ is a master. And in my judgement, he & his core cadre have created a site that is open and sincerly receptive to all forms of dream exploration. They have done an extraordinary job.

Just remember, you are not the Hillbilly

Personally I think  people just like to complicate things so that there is more to discuss on forums.

The practice of questioning if you are dreaming while awake until you do it in your dreams is not that complicated at all.

Does it take work, dedication, persistence, and a lot of patients to be successful at it, yes it does. (Depending on the individual of course.)  Is it complicated and need like one hundred different tutorials and techniques. In my opinion, no, not really.

I mean I consider myself to be pretty simple minded and I was able to figure it out all on my own before I even knew anyone else was doing it, or if it could even be done at all. Until I later came upon Laberge's book on the subject.
